Hi guys. I was reading this forum for a while now and I’m really fascinated whit your cars. So I decided that I want to buy myself a Civic and I’m in a little dilemma. Should I buy one in a bad condition and “renovate” it by myself or should I pay more and buy one already “pimped”?
The dilemma is because I’m on a sort of a limited budget…Do you have some advice from your experience? Very Happy  Very Happy

depends on your area.  there are some areas of the country where there are some really nicely done cars.  most other areas, you find brokeass built cars with everything damaged and ruined by said 'pimps'.

IMO, it makes the most sense to start with a car that is unmolested.  I have done it both ways.  I've bought modified cars and I've modified totally stock cars.  There is no real way to tell you one way or the other until you find some candidates.  I also don't know how savvy you are at sourcing parts or fixing cars.  If you are a total beginner, start with a stock car.  If you have been building cars for a long time, you can buy someone elses mess.  If you buy a car from someone who's 'pimped it out' as you say... you are guaranteed to find absolute ridiculous things that are either unsafe, unreliable, or just flat out stupid.  Hacked up wiring, holes in perfectly good panels for random stupid ass gauges or fire extinguishers or LED lights, standard bolts holding together things that are clearly metric, and so on and so forth.  Unless you are experienced at dealing with this stuff, just start from stock.  I would pay top dollar for a nice stock car over some pile of crap on bent rims and no name coilover sleeves and shocks.  Even on this forum, I've seen some hacks i wouldn't even consider doing.
