Thank god it's proper now!  Are the covers aftermarket reproductions?  I would hope you didn't cut up a legit set of Access covers.

Welp, the car went through another modification recently.  This time, I went ahead and upgraded the motor.  I went from a High Compression A6/Z6 to a B16. Smile  This B16 came from a RHD CRX-Si-R from Japan. (in my theme of keeping things period correct). We went through it, replaced all seals, gaskets, etc.  Tore into the transmission to replace some synchros and to the LS5th gear, only to find out, this motor has the small spline.  Talk about a needle in a haystack.  Had to search far and wide for a small spline LS5th gear from a DA to swap into this car, only sucks is that that transmission was only in production for two years.  So, a good friend of mine searched and was able to locate one and blam, the swap was done.  In the process, my transmission guy found that the trani had a ATS differential, something he said he had never seen before for a small spline transmission.  That and the RS-R 4-1 header.  Anyway, motor went in about a week or so ago.  Now just waiting on a good tune.

Here are some pics of the process.   Laughing

Ready to go! Minus a tune..

More work to be done.  Razz

I have heard there are issues with these first gen B16 motors and their Lost Motion Assembly.  Skunk2 has a solution with their spring loaded lost motion assemblies.  Had to upgrade.

What's a lost motion assembly? Never heard of that before, but there's something about replacing OEM with skunk2 that makes me  Confused

I did some research on it online and found that the first gen B16's had an issue with the lost motion assemblies sticking.  Sounds like the valves need adjusting.. Skunk2 came out with a replacement spring that does not stick.  So, in my attempt to not do anything with the motor once it is all said and done, and just want to drive the crap out of the car, i thought I'd go ahead and replace them now.  Smile

LMA's don't stick as much as they lose spring tension. Same effect though. The LMA can't bring the foot above it back up fast enough to follow the cam profile or doesn't bring it up far enough, and when the lobe comes back around it slaps the crap out of it. This can have adverse effect on the foot or the cam. It can make the cam begin digging a groove into the foot or in worse case scenarios, start chipping or flattening the VTEC cam lobe. I need to address this issue myself.

Answer to your locale question is Winter Haven area. Excited and nervous at the same time.

Right on! Winter Haven is in Orlando? Right! Big ol' scene there, just keep your car locked up! Orlando is notorious for Honda's getting jacked.  I typically go there for shows or meets, but never leave my car alone or especially overnight.  I have a lot of friends down there and as long as you take the right precautions, you will be fine.  I am about 2.5 to 3 hours north of there. Smile

Congrats on the move to the sunshine state.  Very Happy

Recent pictures from The Auto Combine in Green Cove Springs.

Matt Saunders Photography set up early in the morning to take shots of people coming over the bridge.  He caught me!

Parking trying not to hit the column behind me.

Car dried off and staged.

I was fortunate to find and get the Rear Bumper Pole for the civic sedan BNIB.   These are hard to find and to find them complete with all the necessary components even harder.  Apparently, there is a module that many forget to take (probably because no one knows) that makes this unit work when the car goes in reverse.  Here is a little video of it in action.  The Rear Bumper Pole Bracket also connects to the JDM rear bumper support (which i also have).  Holes are already there on the RHD side.  So, it was simply plug and play.

Enjoy!  Laughing
