what's the code on the block for the engine that you're trying to put in?  was your sedan an auto or a manual?  what tranny style are you trying to drop (or swap) in?

My 91 honda civic dx is a 1.5l four door with Automatic transmission
Now my mech said it's the bracket on the right side of the motor
Picture yourself standing in frount of the car, then it's on the right
side of the motor. I thought it would be called the dog bone??
I don't know, but he told me this is all that is stoping him from finishing my car then put new spark plugs, coollant, and oil in it then it's ready to go. But he need's that piece. Confused

Theres no reason for it not to line up. The only reason i can think of it not fitting is if they've sent you a D series engine from a later model civic. It will bolt up to your transmission fine, but you'll need new engine mounts.

As i said earlier though, make sure the engine block reads D15B2. If it doesnt theres a problem.

The manual/automatic engines are identical.

Ok i am trying to post a photo of the motor off e-bay where i bought it from how do i do it? because it's the two bolts on the timing belt side that not fitting, it's the bracket that fits over that
to whole it up that's not bolting up.

Guys went over myself to see what was going on the motor is in and the top motor mount is on so the motor is bolted in the transmission, all that is left for him to do is wireing harness, put the radator in along with the fuel injections and a few other things
mabey another 4 hours and he will be finish.

that's definitely a 92-95 engine because the harmonic balancer has 3 belts and not one of them is a V belt (like our power steering) but whats weird is that the alternator pivot bolt is inserted in the water pump where the top alternator bracket should be?

Oh and is that a mechanical fuel pump?? EGR is usualy on the intake manifold right?

You know your right? Thanks again to the EF sedan squad;  Man you guys know your stuff. he had to replace the pulley because of that very issue,he showed it to me yesterday and told me he has at least five hours left until he finish/but today it's ranning bad so i don't think he will do anything even with the car under a shead.
Yes you guys are right.Right motor but latter model car.

It was a 95 model the harmonic balancer had three groves for three belts so he had to switch it.Also your right again the Egr is on the manifold also one of the bolts going into the motor was striped bad where the bolt would only go a third of the way,so he took that out but the rest of the bolts are holding strong.(latter i will get another mech to fix that re-thred it no big deal) So all that is left is putting it back together again.hopefully i will be ridding by this Friday.

If you turn the car off and back on again and the check engine light is still on then there is a problem causing the ECU to throw a code.

fluctuating idle could be a dirty IACV (Intake Air Control Valve). Could also be alot of other things, but mmmmmmrum doesn't really narrow it down much Razz

freeway, just driving the streets. Saturday i went and washed it off
i think i got some water in the tail pipe, it kinda did not want to run at first, but i guess i will not do that anymore.since my job has been changed as of tomorrow i will look at the motor tomorrow

Sp33 got a Question Ok every morning i go out to the car, i have to pour water into the radator, now today as i was going to work it started running hot, So i found out the fan is not comming on, so i conected the two wires together to keep the fan running as long as i am driving and the temp held, But i would like to know where
is the water going, The Mech said he bled the system (but to me it sounds as if the water is not flowing properly threw the motor)
Mabey air bubbles, or ?????(you know) The BIG WP. What do you suggest i have to be at work now at 5am Mon Tues Wen. Until 5pm
Confused

As a quick fix, you can buy a switch at a local hardware and wire it into your car, then just switch the fan on and off as you need it.

The first thing you have to work out is if your car is using the water, or if it isn't circulating correctly.   Do you notice any white smoke behind the car when your driving? If you look into your engine bay, check for pools of dried coolant (looks like a white stain). Also check behind the engine as much as you can.

It could also be a faulty thermostat, but they don't eat coolant so i don't think that's your problem. I think your leaking it somewhere. If there's no visual signs of leakage then you may need to take your car to a mechanic for a pressure test, to test your cylinders are holding pressure, and not pressurising your coolant system  Mad

Not sure why your fan isn't kicking in automatically though. Follow the wires and check they're connected correctly i guess, but apart from that *shrug*. I'd take it back to the mechanic and complain about it, but sounds like you need the car, and he doesn't exactly work to a timed schedule.

Just remember to turn it off when you get out of the car if you hot wire it. . a friend of mine did this and left the fan on over night. . his car was dead the next morning. .  Wink
