Wipers dont come on same time as washer fluid ? (solved)

Resolved: Faulty ICU (Integrated control unit/module)

Question,

Do the 88 civic sedans have a different wiper relay switch or something ?

On my 1990 Crx Si and 1991 Civic Si, the front wipers come on the same time I spray the washer fluid.

How come on my 1988 civic sedan, the wipers dont come on when I spray the washer fluid ?

Not sure if you have figured it out yet, but it is not normal. My helms wiring diagram shows that it should switch the wipers on when washers are on. I replaced the ICM with a used one. It worked up untill like a week before I took the car off the road for the winter. Turns out the ICM has an internal fault again causing them to not come on. I'll probably not worry about it as ICM's are discontinued from Honda...

hmm.. ok. Maybe its a bad solder joint inside the ICU ?

Could be. I haven't had much time for the sedan lately so it just sits over the winter. I've got a spare now so I might get around one day to opening it up. I'll keep you posted if I find anything of significance.

Well today I replaced the ICU (Integrated control unit) which is behind the fuse panel under dash and now it works fine Smile

Figured it would. It worked for me. Hope it lasts....

Yup.. so far so good.

Because of the age of our cars, the solder joints on all electronics components/computers are starting to crack !
Type-S EF

Every EF i've used the washers on has made me move the stalk for the wipers to wipe.  My EG is the same way, it doesn't bother me, but interesting to know that they should wipe while spraying........
