Q-Short

What engine

i know these little guys are getting to be old skool civics, and was wondering about this when i seen young statics (i think thats his name) on youtube, when he built a b20 for his EF, and was wondering arent the B20s basically illegal due to them being out of the CRV? or does it matter about the year of car to have the type of motor to not make a difference,

Because after a certain year cars dont have to go through the Ghetto smog checks
HondaJunkie

Where I live  your car has to be 25+ years old before you can get smog done every 5 years instead of every 2 years. Or to avoid all the smog stuff you can register the car in a non emission county. As for swaps go at least if you want it to pass emissions they have a weird law here the motor swap has to be from a newer year car then yours or they wont pass it I dont know the reasoning behind this. Im sure if you lookup your states emission laws you can find all that info.

well im just saying junkie since here in oklahoma smog doesnt matter i could put a b16 or b18 in a 01 or newer civic and i would still be able to drive it.. lol im just thinking about these states that have this smog garbage especially cali, im from there just wasnt able to drive yet, and i just heard from other forums that you cant pass emissions with a b20 due to is being an suv motor
HondaJunkie

Oh I thought you where asking lol my bad but yea I have no idea about the b20 man.

California is the main state with the emissions issues. Here in Vegas you MUST get a smog every year that you reregister your vehicle. Our cars out here qualify for classic rod plates which if the car is only driven less than 5000 miles a year you don't have to smog ever. The motor thing hasn't been a problem out here just yet. So it should be fine just don't say anything about the motor, as far as you know it's stock and came with the car.  Wink

nice lol and if you dont commute to work in vagas then you have it made haha i think it would be easy to keep it under 5k a year
EF4lyf3

I LOVE driving my car so under 5k a year is almost impossible for me. I drive about 11 miles to work then 11 miles back so about 20-30 miles a day depending.  My single cam vtec keeps me very entertained Very Happy
Q-Short

i couldnt do that in oklahoma when i have to drive an hour and a half to work then an hour and a half back lol and if anything have a couple ef speedometers laying around with close to the same mileage
EF4lyf3

How much you want for one?
Q-Short

haha no i said if anything have a couple speedometers laying around in your house with about the same mileage lol, not saying i have one right now
EF4lyf3

OOOOh lol that makes alot more sence haha sorry man. I agree tho as you can see i was going to buy one off you and just do it that way haha
tenkaracole

haha here in Missouri where im at we dont do smog.(or at least in my county.) but honestly i dont think it would matter that it is a suv motor.
