trunk issue

so today i replaced my trunk with a new (used) one but it wont stay open


old setup:
1988 trunk
it wouldnt stay open
i removed the rods for speaker clearance.

new setup:
90-91 trunk on 88 body
it wont stay open
new hinges
new rods.

can some one post a picture of the rods. idk if i installed them right.

Sorry it took so long but here are some pics of the spring layout. they cross in the middle.

Thats exactly how i did it. But i dont have the clip that goes in the middle. I used a wire.

I use a piece of bamboo to hold my open...

There is two tension settings if you move the end of the spring that is not connected to the trunk lid forward it will put more tension on the spring.

lol. i ve always used a tube to hold it open. but im tired of it.

so i adjust it to the other setting just how you told me (89 LX) but nothing changed.  Sad

Your trunk lid must be made of lead. LOL

lol. i thought of that with my other trunk (not lead tho) it had a bunch of bondo. but this lid is clean.

fixed my trunk lid. now it stays open. Very Happy
i guess i had the rods backward or something
i used those pics ^ to correct mine
