The Limo

Hey guys,
I introduced myself  a few days ago and I promised, that there will be a build thread of my sedan, or as we germans would say, the 'Limo'.

So here you go:
I bought the 'Limo' about eight weeks ago but I first had to sell my '01 before I was able to get plates so it took a while to get the her on the streets.

This was my Miata by the way:

Finally friday was the day where I got plates for the Limo so I took her out for a ride and I have to say... I LOVE IT! Smile

Here you go with a few Pics of her (on old plates):

After my little test drive I spent the last days with ordering parts and picking up stuff for the Limo. This is what I got until now:

So sad that the wheels will have to wait until my D2 coilovers arrive (probably next week)

I just installed my new "retro radio" and the wind visors yesterday, I think both look pretty good:

I will try to get rid of that license plate block tomorrow in case I will find the time.

The Nardi steering wheel will have to wait until I found a horn button for this ugly thing so I can get it thru the german TUV:

after that I will of course swap the Nardi in! Very Happy

I think this was it for now, more pics will follow soon, so it would be nice if you stay tuned on this project! Smile
EF Sedan Enthusiast

Your sedan is going to be so awesome.
4dred6

amazing  Shocked
89ef2

Im 89ef2 and I approve the two previous statements. Those visors look good too. Much love.
zacattack

Shocked Damn that thing looks mint. It would be hard for me to do much of anything to it. lol. Very solid base to start with.
palle

Today i found time to get rid of that license plate block in front of the car so here you go with some pics of it

No spectacular content in this post but in my opinion this looks much better now. Not sure if I will get rid of the license plate frame some day.

I wondered how clean this car is. Even behind the front bumper there was no dirt at all!

If I will find the time, I'll change the steering wheel tomorrow!
EF Sedan Enthusiast

Nice!  My bumper is off too at the moment.  Your car is just too clean  Razz
89CivicSi

hella clean, i dont even wanna think of the price you paid for her bein that well maintained an mint.
stormdrop

those wheels are going to look awesome.
4dred6

sweet cant wait to see it with the new wheels
palle

Lets be honest: I've paid €1.600 for the Limo, I think this is pretty cheap for a Youngtimer in this good condition.

Well... I have to tell you that the car is not in the best condition atm... Some stupid b**ch just crashed my passenger door as she tried to park right beside me... I'm pretty pissed right now but hey, that's life...

I really hope that the liability insurance of this girl act as quick as possible so I can get it repaired. Wish me luck!
4dred6

that sucks man  Sad
89ef2

Man that truely sucks. Hope everything works out.
89ef2

Love the rims by the way!!
stormdrop

awe man, i would be infuriated. Last time i got hit, i almost got arrested for terroristic threatening cause i yelled at the woman that rear-ended my jeep.  other than a dented door, still looks good.
EF Sedan Enthusiast

Looks like you may need a new door but regardless I would have (probably) wound up in cuffs.
5N4FU

for a sedan that clean to get hit, i would have been jailed for sure. really feel for ya man hope it works out
palle

Thank you for the kind words, everyone!

However, the show must go on, right? Unfortunately I did not have time to get the Steering wheel changed today so I will move this to tomorrows topics. As compensation for that, I put the new wheels besides the car to see how it looks. Here's a little teaser pic for you:

Looks hella dope in my eyes, what do you say?  Smile
stormdrop

^agreed
EF Sedan Enthusiast

Those wheels plus a nice drop equals $$$$$
boosted ef2

U got a great deal!! Too bad about the door though but still a nice car even with it..Hope the insurance will take care of everything and maybe evn buy u sum extra stuff Very Happy
palle

^ that's the plan.

Can't wait until the coilovers arrive so I can put everything together!

Sucks about the door man I hope all goes well the repairs and its going to  look amazing on those wheels and dropped.

What coilovers are u gona use?
palle

I've just ordered D2 Coilovers with smaller helper springs... should give a decent ride height Wink
boosted ef2

Nice...and u can never go wrong with purple Very Happy  Very Happy
palle

Sorry for the delay, guys. My Job just kills me atm. We are just about to launch the new issue of our 'Chrom & Flammen' Magazine and everything has to be ready until friday so I am working about 20h per day.

I will get things running as soon as every job related work is done (Probably friday... i hope...)!

The good thing is: I have sent a registration form for the VIP area of this year's 'DMPD' meeting in NL and they just sent me the confirmation, so I will probably use this meet to present the Limo to the public. I hope that this deadline will kick my ass, even Rod Chong (Speedhunters) said, that he is exited of what I will do out of the Sedan. Pretty big preasure, though! Very Happy
boosted ef2

Nice can't wait to c how it turns out..

Any luck getting ur door fixed yet?
palle

Unfortunately not. I have turned in a consultant and a lawyer to get an adequate amount of cash but I think it will take a while until I can finally get it fixed. Hope everything will get repaired until that DMPD meet next month!
boosted ef2

That sucks hope everything works out....can't wait to c how it turns out
palle

yeah that definately does suck. Looking foreward to making progress with the Limo soon, though! D2 coils should come within the next days (at least I hope so)! Smile
EF Sedan Enthusiast

Nice, hope they come in soon.
palle

finally, I found time to replace my steering wheel. Will do it in the next hours. Any hints, informations of how to do it? Thanks in advance!
boosted ef2

Nice..Just take ur time and u should be fine..
Still no coilovers?
palle

Your wish is my command, here you go:

For all those who haven't done this before, I have documented the whole thing.

First thing is removing the Honda sign in the middle of your old steering wheel with a small flat screwdriver or a fine tool. Behind the logo you will find a 19mm nut. loose this nut with a wrench.

After you have done this, its time to get the hub tightened. before I did this, I was curious about how my old steering wheel looks so I opened it up and found...

... nothing exiting

So I get the hub on and tightened the nut with at 19mm wrench. If you do this, make sure, that the "top" sign is at the top and in the middle, otherwise it is possible that your new steering wheel is a little oblique.

After I have done this, I installed the wheel for the german TÜV first to see if it fits...

Then I installed the Nardi. For some reason I don't like this Nardi pretty much, I think a wooden one would look way better so this will just be a transitional solution

Sorry for the shitty handy pictures, I will do a propper shoot once the door is fixed and the coil overs and wheels are installed Wink

This was it for now, I hope you like it!

Hey guys, good News!
I'm finally making progress: My coil overs have arrived and I installed 'em yesterday.

Unfortunately it took us a while because of some issues,
but the wheels and front lip will go on during the next few days.

Some more pics:

Pretty big difference:

You will see the final result in a few days, it was to dark for pics after we were finished at around 1am today!

I agree a wooden nardi would look better but its still better than the other one...

Time for some updates:

I mounted the Schmidts today!

For some reason the wheel gap is more than I expected (maybe because of the 195/45 rubber) but I think it's ok for now.  Had to slightly roll the back, the front is good without anything which is a sign to me that its definitely not low enough.

Maybe I will go lower in the future or maybe I will switch to 16" wheels some day. The back sits pretty wide for its 12mm offset but I like that a lot.

Second thing is I also mounted the VR6 lip which gives me a nice 2 inch ground clearance. Just right for a daily I think

next things to come is a new muffler and some other small parts. It's also time to get the passengers side door fixed, I only need to make an appointment with the painter and stuff. The interior will be one of the topics of the next few days as well, it's time to order some shift knobs and other cool things!
boxboy90

Omg that looks beautiful!

Love the car. What specs are your wheels btw?
palle

Hey Guys,
haven't found much time to post because as you can see...

...I was so busy with my job and stuff!

My door has been repaired a few weeks ago and everything's fine with the car so far. On Saturday I packed my stuff and drove down to a meet Near the Hockenheimring (some of you might know it from Formula 1). On my way I took a few snapshots which turned out really good. This one is my Favorite:

More pics of the car will follow. Also there will be a few things to work on during the winter so be sure that you will see more soon!

Hey guys,
sorry for the long time of not posting anything here. Just to get you up to date here's what my plans for 2014 are so far:

- Mini-Me and MPFI swap
- clean up the engine bay
- adding lower strut bar and other suspension stuff
- adding camber
- getting a little moar low
- making the interior a little bit more 'old school'
- taking a bunch of photos
- ...

The thing is, that I don't have a clue how to do MPFI and Mini-Me Swap and what I really need for this. Also I don't know how to clean the engine bay and where to get all the wires and stuff so you please have to help me with all your knowledge!

And because this thread is worthless without pics, here ya go:

palle

thanks!

Yeah they really don't seem to...

When everything goes as I planned it, I should get my Mini-Me kit this Week so I will start next week swapping it in Smile
palle

Hey Guys, got some news for ya!

I just finished swapping the MiniMe in! I used A D16Y8 head including throttle body, Intake Manifold, Ignition and everything.

First I stripped down the whole front end to avoid scratches and for the wire tuck...

...then we removed the water cooler and other parts to get space. After that a friend of mine who is a genius at electric things started the wire tuck, while my other friend Nils (photo) and I took care of the new Y8 head...

...we got it skimmed (hope this is the right word) by an professional. He also made sure that the valves are okay...

...we changed the valve stem seals and built this "tool" to push down the valve springs - works pretty good!...

...the next day I picked up some parts for the new engine. Beside an adjustable cam gear, some gaskets, Oil and several screws I also picked up this from the paint shop...

...now it was time to get the whole thing together. We just finished changing the heads, and tucking the wires as my friend came 'round to bring me a few OBD1/2 adapters and a fully mapped P28 ECU. Don't worry, this valve cover is not the one that I picked up from the paint shop!...

...after 9 days of hard work we finally started the engine for the first time.

Here ya go with a first-start-video! (click!)...

... and this is how it looks now. Wire tuck lvl1 (more to come) and Y8 Mini-Me-Swap mapped on approximately 140bhp - this should do it for a while.

The bad news is, that I get OBD1 Trouble Code No. 43 (fuel supply system). I think this could be a bad/fucked up O2 Sensor but Im not sure. Apart from that the engine runs great! Smile
~Sp33~

Did you hook up the vac line to your fuel pressure reg?

Looks beautiful <3
palle

yeah, I think all the vac lines are good. I checked them twice because I had a few issues with them after the first start, still missing a vacuum valve that is placed between the intake manifold and the crankcase vent but I got a temporary fix for that.

Will double check the vac line is on the fuel pressure reg tomorrow, just to be sure.
EF Sedan Enthusiast

The bay looks great!  Love that VC.  Reminds me of my first EX.
slammedsedan

I love this car its so clean and fresh i love the wheels
4dred6

Looks very good man, that valve cover is money.
spudwrench

just had the time to read through your thread, your ride is so clean and giving me something to shoot for love the rims
palle

here's a small update for you:
One week after the "swap" has been done I can say it was worth every second of work. I still got OBD1 Code #43, "fuel supply system" but it only appears after 5-10 Minutes driving so I think this might be the O2 sensor.

Also I got this in the mail today:

Just found this on ebay a few days ago: http://www.ebay.de/itm/3010627791...%26_nkw%3D301062779193%26_rdc%3D1

Does anybody have them installed or knows how the Quality is? I think this might be a good alternative since I do not find OEM Honda window visors Sad
palle

OK guys, I think I have a problem right here.
After I startet the engine the first time after the Mini-Me ("d16y8") Swap it ran like shit with rpm somewhere between 1500 and 2500. after a few days of searching I decided to block this hose (vacuum hose between the intake and breather box I think) with a screw at every end.

Suddenly the engine ran almost perfect so I adjusted the ignition and left it like this for now. I thought that there might be some kind of Vacuum valve within the original hose or something like that. But after I spoke to a few guys that have seen this hose and told me that there is no valve I am not sure about my theory.

My question right here is:
How can it be, that the engine runs well if i block this hose but it runs like shit if I attach it right (with some universal vac hose)?

second question is:
How bad is it for the engine to simply block off this hose? Can/will there be any damage if my "temporary solution" will stay like this forever?

I really hope you guys can help me!!
~Sp33~

The purpose is to recirc the oily gasses emitted, it's only benefit is to decrease emissions. You can block it off and vent the breather box to atmosphere with no noticeable difference.

I don't know specifically with the y8, but most of the vacuum lines running from the breather will have a 1 way valve along the line somewhere so air only releases into the intake when there's a greater pressure in the block side of the valve, and doesn't allow intake air to return into the block.

As for why it was running shitty... Maybe the 1 way valve was backwards? Maybe it was missing?
palle

Okay that's good to know. In case I don't find the problem I will simply block that off on the intake side and do just like you said.

~Sp33~ wrote:

That is exactly what my thoughts were. Luckily I finally found someone who has the original hose from a Y8 including a "PCV" (that's what it's called on google) from a D16Z6 wich should be nearly the same. I will try that hose first.

Thanks a lot!

By the way, this happened yesterday:

The car broke down on the Autobahn. At around 210kp/h quit accelerating and the pedal was dead. Luckily it was only the throttle cable that slipped out of the bracket.

I hope to get the Schmidts mounted and some other work done next weekend so I can finally take some pictures!

Edit:
Can somebody please tell me what lip that is and if it will fit on my car?  Question

TheGreatBacon

Looks like two lips attached together, not sure what lips though.

threw up the Schmidts yesterday so here ya go with two new pics
