The building of a box

Well i was going to make one of these threads eventually, when i was more into it, but i got bored and decided to start it.

Well the car is a 1990 EX four door civic, stuff that i already have done would include: LS swap, exedy stage 2 clutch, exedy lightened flywheel, some unknown sleeves, JDM front, and a tucked engine bay.

here are some random pics of it right after the swap

This is how it sat right before winter

stuff that has to get done early spring is to get the seat belts to work and the climate control to work

stuff that i recently picked up and will be equipped around spring
rear discs

and a Bosal OE exhaust

This build will be kinda slow for awhile cuz i am at school and have no job, so i cant purchase anything right now.
~Sp33~

Beautiful engine bay man.

Mr.ef2sedan

small update:

Last week I picked up a better set of coils to hold me over until I have money for what I want.

And today I got a GSR intake manifold from a friend that I'm going to begin to fit to the LS
bradpee

I picked up SS brake lines for the front today

If anyone has SS brake lines for the rear with disc brakes? I am interested
paulhutchi

Howz your build doing, Do what you can. your doing well.
bradpee

It is stalled right now for the winter, I am at school and it is put away.  I have accumulated a few parts that will go on in the spring.  Also this weekend I will begin to fit the GSR manifold to the LS, and go to the junkyard for some goodies Very Happy
del_soul

Nice engine bay Very Happy
bradpee

I ordered me up one of those Wink rally mirrors yesterday,  I cant wait till it gets here
bradpee

I finally got a gasket so I know what I need to do to the GSR manifold

Heres pics if anyone cares to see what its like

as you can see the ports dont line up perfectly but will work, this way all of the bottom holes line up

or you can line the ports up correctly but then none of the holes line up, and give you a lil more work.  I havent decided what way i want to go yet

and here is the spot which will be the hardest to do, the coolant passage, but dont worry it is hollow behind where it needs to go so it shouldn't be to bad

I'm going to opt to have the ports line up correctly and do a lil more work to make it fit

Looking good, I love when you can eat out of the engine bay. Makes my day. Good luck with the gsr mani, looks like a challenge..
bradpee

picked me up a new radio today Very Happy
bradpee

Got my mirror yesterday
Proper282

Nice! I love my wink mirror! Totally eliminates blind spots.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the GSR intake mani was the least desired of the b-series. Doesn't it have some type of secondary butterfly that's got its own throttle cable?Just curious.

I'm jealous of your rear discs
EvanFullwood

looks pretty good man, some nice wheels will really set er off

it does have secondaries but they are run off of vacuum.  the reason I'm going with the GSR is because alll other aftermarket ones shift my power band to where it is most effective 7500+rpm's.  With the GSR I will have a more usable power band, with giving me better top end than stock.

yeah I know....I need to get a job this summer real bad
bradpee

oh yeah, I also got one of these thingers
bradpee

the GSR manifold is off getting work done to it.

welding of the holes/adding aluminum, machining the surface back square.  and holes being drilled.  The whole shebang.

I guess when my dad brought it to the machinist, they all laughed at this. lol Cool
zoomownsanEF

nice sedan major ups on the nice parts youve put into it.

good inspiration..working on a budget but doing the best yu can.

as so am i.

next is rust for me.
then paint wheels better drop etc.
bradpee

^Thanks man, I appreciate all your guys comments.

Plans are changing for the sedan, I was talking about boosting the LS but now I am going to do a K-swap.

I still am going through with the GSR manifold to rock until I get swap monies.
bradpee

got my manifold back, everything looks amazing, machined real nice.  Just might have to drill some holes bigger if there are any fitment issues but everything looks like it should work

on to the pics

backside is all machined nice too

liljoey

Im undecided right now but I'm going to change to mechanical engineer.  The engine harness is stock length and everything, it is pulled into the cabin.  And it is a EX so its the stock master cylinder

I'm also going to remove the charcoal canister and put the brake booster under the master cylinder
liljoey

yea u dont need the charcoal canister.wut brake booster u goin to be using?
bradpee

Im going to keep the stock brake booster just reroute it underneath the brake master cylinder
liljoey

i have got to see some pics of this done.u have a lot of good ideas.
9jdmef1

O! how i wish my bay looked like yours...lol keep the good work up......
bradpee

done

Ive got some stuff done to this over spring break, waiting on some lca's in the mail.  hope to get some new pics this weekend
~Sp33~

Very clean, nice.
whoa its len 2

Any plans to dyno this in the future? I bet a P8R head would benefit best with this. Props on getting it to fit.
bradpee

yeah I might dyno it, and tune it with a vafc, i dont want to put much more money into this setup since my plans changed
bradpee

some new pics, it has a nice GSR growl

~Sp33~

So easy on the eyes...
bradpee

I got racked

sdefsedan

why did you go with the gsr manifold?
bradpee

because of where it made my power band, but when I do start building the engine, I think Im going to use stock or aftermarket because it doesn't fit in there the nicest
bradpee

New pics with the rack.  I have an interview this weekend so hopefully Ill have money soon to get stuff done.

liljoey
