t25 turbo questions

Hey guys I am thinking about making my winter project a t25 turbo setup on my sedan. I have done some searching and reading but I was wondering if I can get some advice from someone who has done this before. How many pounds can I run SAFELY before I get up to speed factory to get a good tune? I am running a d16z6 btw. Also does anyone have this setup or atleast some pieces for a turbo kit I can buy? I want to piece together a kit, I am to poor to buy one new lol.

I dont have any personal experience with a T25 but most ppl seem to always upgrade later on. The t25 should offer ample lower to mid rpm power but starts to drop in power up top. I'm guessing maybe around 5k rpms is where you'll see the power start to decline.

If you are just looking for a nice daily setup, that should be more than what you need but if you want something a little more serious, then i'd opt for a t3 or t3/t4. There's a topmount cast manifold on ebay that i've been thinkin about getting for $300 and has very good reviews. It would be nice to have on any EF chassis to avoid getting an aftermarket subframe thingy-ma-jiggy lol. However, those manidolds only accept T3 bolt patterns.

Yea I have been reading a bit about the t25 and its limits. I am running a turbo with vtec and vtev engages at 5k. I am getting a kit today with both a t25 and to4e (t3/t4) all its missing is injectors but if I am running low psi like 5-6 do I need to upgrade injectors at all?

You probably dont NEED to upgrade your injectors at that low of boost as long as you are running whatever the higher OEM honda injector CC range is. However, DSM 450cc injectors can be had for cheap used or like $150 rebuilt on ebay.

So just stock eclipse injectors will work? I just got a t25 and t3/t4 turbo today with a kit just missing turbo down pipe and oil lines. So now I am hunting for those parts. Thinking about starting with the t25 first just to get a feel for it then go to the bigger turbo. But now I am going to read a lot before I start this project. The waste gate is an XS power wg. Has a 10psi spring in it the guy said? Meaning if the pressure rises to 10psi or above it releases the extra pressure correct?

Yes, stock DSM 450cc injectors work. however, i believe rubber O-rings they sit in will need to be modified somehow to work with our hondas. I bought mine off of some ebay seller and he sold the rubber bushings premodded for hondas for an extra charge. The DSM injectors will also require a DSM resistor box in order to work and that will need to be hard wired in.

I would skip straight to the t3/t4. Like i said before, most ppl move to bigger turbos after using T25's and that will require a different downpipe(shops charge about $400), exhaust manifold, and possibly intercooler piping. Post a pic of the setup so i can check out the manifold. The EF chassis has problems with turbo clearance due tothe stock subframe but there are ways to work around that.

I havnt brushed up on wastegates lately. Your idea makes sense and i had always thought thats how it works but i have been hearing recently that the spring's rated stiffness is the LEAST amount of boost it will push. *shrugs*

I work at a junkyard part time so I can get the injectors and box easy. And I got two manifolds from him. Ones a mini ram horn for an ef and the other is a custom made log turbo for ef chasis. I will post a pic later tonight. But I know I am missing feed and return lines and some piping. He only gave me two pipes and the small fitment pipe for the bov. But he said the kit came out of his ef hatch before he sold it.

Sounds good. Stealthmode is the only company i can think of off the top of my head that sells the oil feed and return lines. This will all be bolted to an LS correct? If so, i believe they can manage somewhere between 225whp-250whp on stock internals. Fun fun fun!

Lol nope its going on a d16z6:) And I have decided to go with the t25 due to the blades on the intake side of the turbo have been chipped on the corners. A few of them have so its not balanced correctly, I have to rebuild it. But thats ok. The t25 will give me a taste of boost and help me learn. Then when the t3/t4 is done I will install that and enjoy:)
MRED

Ahhhh....sounds fun either way! Lemmie know when boost starts kickin in on that t25 and when it reaches full boost.
