So is it cracked? what is the initial issue?
tenkaracole

^^agreed confusion Confused
89CivicSi

idk it looks like the entire seam around the strut hat is sealed with seam sealer, and spot welded in 8 spots, and that it flexed in those 2 spots
tenkaracole

So do you need to weld the cracks? Confused  im still lost. Confused  Sad
89CivicSi

yes young one
EF4lyf3

Hows it coming bro? Just remove the seam sealer and im sure you will see whats going on
89CivicSi

someone said it usually flexs there anyways, because its just spot welded lol so im gonna weld the seam all the way around
4dred6

Yep is usual with these old cars, body flexes a lot. Stitch weld it.
89CivicSi

stitch weld?? ur talkin to a noobie welder
4dred6

I'm a newb at welding too, but I've seen these track cars with stitch welds.
Google it cuz I'm on iPad and can't post pics with this thing.
89CivicSi

ah lol I will, my welding is ok just not good ok lol
~Sp33~

you said you cant post pics with the ipad. But I have posted most of my pics using the ipad. What program or website are you using botha?
4dred6

safari. but i know what you mean, i can use photobucket and all those
programs. but what i cant do is attach file with it. ipad 1 tho.
EF4lyf3

OOOOOh maybe I should have asked what ipad you were using lo my bad man. Well wait. You can easily copy and paste the URL by holding your finger on the word and it will give you a list of options. Im sure you knew that but just got to be sure is all. And yea I have thepad 4 so it might be just alittle different lol.

I think that's just the sealer stuff cracking. That stuff is laid on pretty damn thick in some areas. Although, beefing upthose areas are a good idea. The weight of the whole car is on the shocks and all that weight is in the area you are looking at.
89CivicSi

true so gonna weld the seam all the way around probably wed if im not swappin manis
4dred6

sp33 meant the he didn't see actual cracks in the metal.
cleanRENO90

If you don't have any experience welding sheet metal, don't get wild on your car immediately. get something to practice for a while with.
EF4lyf3

Agreed^ you will burn right through that sheet.
89CivicSi

I welded up my pedal assemblys and welded a plate to the firewall because had a issue where the cable went thru it lol, all because a stage 3 ACT clutch
tenkaracole

still might want to practice! Very Happy  take it from a fairly experienced welder, (been welding since i was 7 and know im 15), you DONT want to mess up! and as much presure as being put there, you dont need a stitch weld, tack weld will do fine.....but a stitch weld is stronger and therefore a better idea. would post link to a stitch weld video, but cant look at videos with my slow internet connection. but its not hard to learn, just gotta get the feel for it!! Very Happy

Cool

The seam sealer is also painted over, sometimes the sealer will shrink and cause visible 'cracking' on the painted surface. That doesn't mean your strut towers are cracking though! I'd leave them alone, looks fine.
89CivicSi

Alright I'll leave them for now, but if get noticably worse will have them welded
tenkaracole

good idea! Very Happy
