theres a shop called watanabe in north hollywood i was told a d16 installed cost $600 and they would convert it to a four wire injector this was like 3 years ago. dont have to worry about street legal. you can smog it. as for the d15 vtec i spoke to the state referee he told me he had to fail a civic with a d15vtec because that motor isnt a usdm availble. unlike the usdm delsol b16a its compairable.

hey so the JDM D15B wont pass smog? and ive heard of other places doing swaps for cheaper ill keep an ear out for you.

I think it depends which state you live in.
EF2dudesocal

in cali with some of the stricktest smog rules. damn smokers.
jkgonzalez3

a d15b vtec should pass smog if you install it as odb1 cause thats how they came in the jdm right? but i think either way right now you can get it to pass cause its still a single cam.

and i think $1200 is a lot can be had for way cheaper.

I THOUGHT THAT WAS A PRETTY SHADY PRICE MYSELF...I REMEMBER BACK IN 2004 I SWAPPED MY OLD EF2 WITH A COMPLETE CHANGEOVER FROM AUTO TO MANUAL ZC DOHC FOR $1400...I GUESS I MIGHT JUST FORGET ABOUT THAT D15B SOHC VTEC SWAP SINCE I DONT WANT TO HASSLE WITH SMOG ISSUES...DO YOU THINK IT WOULD BE BETTER JUST TO DO A MPFI SWAP ON MY STOCK ENGINE...?...DO YOU THINK I WILL GAIN ANY EXTRA POWER AND WILL I HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WHEN IT COMES TO SMOG TIME...JUST CURIOUS SINCE THE EX MODELS ARE MPFI...!!!
jkgonzalez3

you can convert to mpfi and it would gain about 10HP also no there would not be any issues with smog.

i say just swap it with vtec and just get a vtec controller for it. and it should be fine. thats what im going to do.
Clipse

vtec "controllers" FTMFL.

I'm rebuilding a d16a6 with a y7 head for better airflow, still non vtec, but better than a d15 with a mpfi conversion.  Hit me up if you wanna pick it up and swap it in.

What's wrong with them?
JDQCIVIC4DR

I mentioned to the referee that 92-95 civic VX are D15 vtec sohc to compare it to the D15 vtec sohc. cant cause 92-95 VX are D15Z1 and the other is D15B different engine code. it'll pass emission but not visual. Vx piston are more dome compared to our d15. vx throttle body is about the size of a dollar coin little bigger.  D15B with stage 3 vtec sounds interesting.  http://asia.vtec.net/article/d15b/
but the motor i really wanted was the honda city turbo II but couldnt get it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GDcV2YgP2Y

vtec controllers

back in the days adjustable tach with a shift light were used as vtec controllers.   Idea
