Proper282's 91 DX------> 90 LX

Well, It's hard for me to concentrate on 1 project at a time these days, but I have decided to focus on the sedan for a while. It is my daily driver so I'm not trying to make a show piece or track car out of it.  Just a comfortable DD.  Just wanted to post the progress so far. Enough B/S everyone loves pics

Here she is the day after I brought her home 10-14-08

Proper282

Painted the steelies white, and picked up some EF side markers from WeakSauce.org

Then the Teg center console w/typeR armrest delete and type R shift boot and knob(also from WeakSauce)

Proper282

Then somewhere in there I put on my pinstripe and fit some wagovan sideskirts. And the rear camber kit bushings were all blown out so I replaced those with a set from WickedTuning.(sorry no picks of those)

But most recently I picked up a set of F2 LCA's from Rob(Mr.ef2sedan)

Along with this OEM roof rack
Proper282

And since we're getting in the season, I updated my headliner once again. Laughing

That is hot.
nala619

clean ride dude! i need to get me a center console :[
Proper282

Thanks Guys.... Yeah I couldn't stand the fact of not having a center console or cup holders! I had a Teg console in both of my hatches so I knew as soon as i got the 4d that one was going to make it's home in there.

I stumbled on the armrest delete on weaksauce and got it since I have the autobelts. But I did see somewhere that a guy got it to work with the armrest too
Mr.ef2sedan

Parts look great on the car. Very Happy  Was nice to meet you .
Proper282

You too man! Don't know if you go to any of the meets(i haven't but hope to 1 day) Maybe I'll see you around.

And everyone loves the roof rack. Even my wife surprisingly Shocked
But who doesn't like a nice rack? lol
pleasedelete

so so jealous of the roof racks Sad
Proper282

One side done. Now onto the other side. Hopefully will be able to get to it tomorrow

Thanks to MomoHenning for the parts
cleanRENO90

nice on the rear fog Very Happy
mitsubishiv5

i want a rear foglight
Mr.ef2sedan

Nice can't wait to see them both on.
89civicracer

Nice one.... Coming along nicely! Laughing
Proper282

Aaaaawe Shit! LOL! took a little trimming of the bumper support, but got it back on this morning.

Need to wash this beast again, But its been raining all morning here Sad
~Sp33~

I think that's the first set of 90-91 tail lights i've ever seen with all the lights actually working.
mp_89dx

completely in love with your sedan!!!!!!

Thank you very much.

Now I'm ready to get to the bigger projects. A JDM Front, and a fresh D16a6.

If anyone in Cali has a line on a cheap A6 let me know. I'm planning on a full rebuild so as long as the block is not cracked or heads warped I'm interested.
Proper282

Washed her down today and snapped a couple pics. Also no more temporary registartion. WHOOHOO

~Sp33~

She washes up real nice mate.
Mr.ef2sedan

Lights look great, i would like to get some but i dont want to cut into my jdm bumper  Very Happy
89civicracer

Aw just do it Rob..hahaha! The marking should be there already for it...Smile

Fogs look nice on the car... and i agree with Steve, it has been a while since i have seen a 90-91 with all the lights working at the same time...hahaha!  Laughing

lol there is a marking on them, my rear lights work great to..
Proper282

Just do it! LOL! I understand where you're coming from though. But hey, it'll look good once it's finished.!
jkgonzalez3

When you where bolting your bumper back in, is that as high as it could go? cause it looks like it's a tad low.
Proper282

I'll have to take another look. Maybe I can get it a little tighter to the body. Didn't really notice until you mentioned it lol!
Proper282

Hit up the Junkyard this weekend and scored a ZC camshaft, and a new back seat.

A GSR LEATHER Back Seat FTW!!!

Needs a little more finesse to get the fitment just right. But I'm almost there Very Happy

Still waiting on an EK Cam Gear so I can throw the ZC cam into my B2 head. Had to order it from Honda and should be in on Tues. Now I really need to focus on getting my MPFI Swap done. Very Happy
~Sp33~

Damn. I've never seen those seats fit so well. Usually they look shocking.

Good work man.
Proper282

Thanks Sp33. There are still a few little gaps that are driving me crazy. I am considering swapping the gsr foam over to my sedan seat frame. Only the bottom half though. The back sits just fine and latches/releases just like factory.
Proper282

Got the ZC cam w/d16y cam gear dropped in today. Along with some GSR leather front seats. Will have pics up tomorrow of both. Cam swap was pretty straight forward. in my opinion it was easier than doing the timing belt. But performance gains were immediately noticed. Didn't really get on it, but I can say it takes far less effort for the little b2 to get up to fwy speed.

The seat swap was pretty simple. Only had the bolt the auto belts to the teg seats and then slap those bitches in. Should have pics up later
91JdmEd3

haha, our twins are coming along good. You just need to replace the rear lip on the other side of the exhuast and it would look complete.
Proper282

Haha, I think I'm going to ditch the accord lip and put the mud flap back on until I find a lip similar to the SIR lip for th hatches.
91JdmEd3

Can never go wrong with mudflaps..
Proper282

The B2 Cam getting ready to come out.

All buttoned up w/ the d16y cam gear in place

And the new leathers. Still need to clean the fronts up a bit.

Sorry for the shitty cam phone pics. Got sand in my digicam in Pismo and haven't been able to use it since lol!
bradpee

how hard was it to make the seats fit? most curious about the rears?
Proper282

The rears were simple. The top bolted down in place of the stock seats. And on the bottom I placed the seat where it was centered and marked and cut 2 slots for it to slip in place.
~Sp33~

Beautiful.
Proper282

Changed it up a bit this weekend.

Will get some better shots during the day. Thinking of redoing them in white or gold. Any suggestions?
Androctonus

Damn your sedan is HOT Cool like the seat swap!
Proper282

Thanks! It feels good to be able to finally get some stuff going with the sedan.
This past weekend my bro-in-law picked up a sedan for $700 that looks strikingly similar to mine lol! But it has power windows/door locks/steering and cruise control. Just needs a head gasket and some love. Ill try and snap some picks of it when he brings it over so I can do the gasket.
Proper282

Snapped some pics in the driveway

Still not sure I'm loving the black wheels. Either way I need to redo/touch them up. Maybe I'll go with the Bronze then white if I don't like that.

Also I have no idea what kind of wheels these are. Only thing they have stamped on the outside are VIA and Ultra Light(which they are LOL!) A google search netted nothing. You guys have any clue what they may be?
jkgonzalez3

Damn, Who cuts the grass across the street? There's MAD lines in it.
Motormat

Damn man loving the back seats they look nice in there car is clean keep up the good work hopefully mine can be that clean someday :]
9jdmef1

bro!......the car looks sick.....lol......i love the work your putting into it....keep up the good work
Proper282

Moved up to the Hi-Desert a couples weeks ago. Sh*t ton of room to work on my projects! Had to change the ride up a bit too!
Jesterjones13

What year Gsr did you get the seats out of?
mitsubishiv5

looks good, black interior is always better
Proper282

Thanks. I love the black leather in there. Jester I'm not sure exactly what year the GSRs came out of, and I can only say the rear is from a 4dr 94-2000 and the fronts are from a 2dr of the same year range.
whoa its len 2

I liked the black wheels better. The leathers look good in there.  Cool
Proper282

Ive just been experimenting with the wheel color. Since the black was chipping and looked like ass LOL! Plus the person I got them from had sprayed them with cheap flat black paint. (Not a fan of flat black wheels) Thinking I may strip them down again and see how they look white or maybe gloss black.
9jdmef1

dude im in love with your 4door.....looks great.......i want to get a set of sideskirts too....they are just hard to find around here......
Jesterjones13

Thanks man.
BLKEF4DR

YOUR CAR IS LOOKING NICE Cool
Proper282

Thanks.  I took the accord rear lip off a few weeks ago, and have been thinking of redoing the wheels in gloss black. We'll see. I'll have my decision made by the time Eibach rolls around Very Happy
ef_tovi

Dang i cant believe i missed this thread lol.

Car is looking really good and im loving the wheels but i think white will look better and i want your rear bumper haha.
Proper282

Quick project in the works......
The Goods. Used from left to right

Before( I had tried to cheap out and wirewheel them, but got shitty results)

During

After

Almost Done....

And another change.... It's a cheap wheel I know, but it was free and it mathes my TypeR shift boot

And a quick shot in the shop at work. You can see my little 4g is dwarfed by what I wrench on 40hrs a week lol!
EF Sedan Enthusiast

Lookin good homie!  Can't wait to see it in person on the 12th.
Proper282

9jdmef1

love the wheels man......u picked a kool color lmao........our style is so alike...lol..great work
foooe-doooe

lovin the sedan i want a roof rack Sad
Proper282

Well after a lot of back and forth I finally made the jump and picked up some fogs. They are not EF or prelude fogs, but I like the way they look and think they look better than the Autozone fog set. Going to more than likely paint the glass yellow and swap the bulbs for some Osram Nightbreakers.

ThurmanMerman

Nice! What fogs are they?
Proper282

They are "super truck" fogs from Harbor freight tools. I got them for 15.99. The local store had about 15 sets. I had never seen them until this week
Pablo

haha i did the same thing on my old hatch, white steelies  Very Happy

Proper282 wrote:

Proper282

Haven't updated this in a while since mostly just been doing regular maintenance. But I finally got around to installing my power door lock actuators to go with the alarm. OH what a joy to not have to use the key anymore lol! Also got some new tires last week and installed a starter today since mine decided to crap out on me yesterday. Thank god it's a stick and I could push start it on my own! Otherwise I would have been stranded 50mi from home.

Also I just picked up an 00' F-150 for a smokin' deal but not to keep. Hoping to shine it up and flip it for some profit and maybe put some $ towards obtaining the supercharger I have been dreaming about. Twisted Evil
~Sp33~

Hmmmmmm, supercharger.  Cool
ed3dORk

hey bro wer did u get ur rear fogs from?? and for how much? im really interested in buying a set!
whoa its len 2

Sell the Civic and buy a blower for the truck!
Proper282

I picked up the fogs here on the forums, and for a price that would make most people upset. Since I payed less for both with the switch than just 1 light is listed for on ebay lol!

Len, I despise Fords lol! Only picked this up cuz I knew I would make a profit on it. If anything I would buy a blower for my 97' big block Suburban. The 35"tires killed any kind of performance that was there in the beginning lol!
Proper282

Picked this up on Saturday for next to nuthin!

Pulled head off... Lookin pretty good in there. bottom end spins freely

Cylinders dont look bad either.

Here she is tucked away into my little workspace

Plans are simple:
Cyl Head: Disassemble. Get new valve guides(if needed)and seals. 3-angle valve job and resurfaced

Block: Tear down. Hot tanked, Decked and Honed. Then some fresh rings and a set of P29 pistons w/Y8 headgasket, and new factory rod and crank bearings. Also new timing belt and tensioner, water pump, and oil pump

I'm not looking to make a ton of HP. This is for my daily driver. Just want something with a little more Umph and to last me another 200k mi.
~Sp33~

^ Cool  Cool
89 LX SOHC ZC

Nice!
whoa its len 2

I don't see a ZC, I see a badass welding mask.  Twisted Evil
Proper282

lol! You should see the new welding helmets snap-on has! if they weren't $300+ I'd have one already!

I dropped the block off at the machine shop yesterday and will be picking it up today. now I just need to decide what color to paint the block. thinking a dark bronze, aluminum head, and a wrinkle red valve cover....

but on to bigger things....... I have been contemplating where to go with this build. I was originally going with hi comp p29's, a valve grind, and new seals & bearings. but now I'm thinking of slapping on a milled y8 head & gasket with the pm6 pistons. But I'm not sure how the boys of the C.A.R.B. would like a zc block with a y8 head and pm6 ecu..... any suggestions keep in mind this is my daily driver and sees 100+ miles a day

will post pics of the block once I pick it up
Proper282

Byw len you weren't in ontario today were you? I saw a burgundy sedan on bbs's that I swear could have been yours! it was right next to county high school near creekside
Proper282

Took the bottom end apart the other day

Then it was off to the machine shop for a good cleaning and cylinder hone

Disassembled the head too....  Mad It's trashed! I'll post pics later. The cam somehow was grinding into the journal nearest the distributor and eventually welded itself to the head there and snapped clean in half! Oh well what do you expect from a $40 long block  Laughing  I guess it'll be my b2 head that will get reworked instead of the ZC. I'll just swap over the ZC cam gear and valve springs to the b2 since I already have a ZC cam in there...
89 LX SOHC ZC

Wish I was a rich guy like you haha. Sorry to hear about the head even though you only payed 40 for  the long block good luck.
Proper282

haha! i'm not rich, just barely broke! The shop work only cost me $50. pistons wil be another $100. haven't priced bearings yet. Going to honda for those. then the head work I'm hoping will be around $100. I'm trying to keep this entire project under $600 then I want to put a hurtin on my co-workers Eg w/a stock b16. just to show the power of the "D" lol!
89 LX SOHC ZC

Cool good luck.
whoa its len 2

Proper282 wrote:

Nah my car hasn't seen the road in 2 months. Tried to start it today but the battery was dead lol.
~Sp33~

Ooooow, keep this updated Smile
Proper282

Sourced some factory PM7's locally on H-T for $30! will be picking them up on saturday or sunday. then back to the shop to have them pressed onto the d16 rods. 91 octane here I come! lol haven't accomplished much this week. painted the block but thats about it
Proper282

Well, picked up the PM7's yesterday. After soaking in the parts washer ALL DAY at work and a little scrubbing I ended up with this

Here they are in comparison to the PM6 Piston

I Love Dome    Wink

Also ordered some Nippon Rings last night

Now I need to get them over to the machine shop and have them put on my PM6 rods

This weekend I tried to re-align my horrible looking front end, but looks like it needs to be pulled by a professional. But I did paint the filler piece to match and I think that alone looks 1000x's better!

Update
89 LX SOHC ZC

Lookin good.
Proper282

well..... not much progress on the zc. Got my king rod and main bearings just need to assemble the bottom end now. but today I picked up a running red 91 lx for $250! paint is faded and has a dent in the driver door but the all black, all power interior is mint!...... will be putting the power window and door locks in my car and then selling the red one more than likely.

pics will come later. just wanted to share my find with you guys
89 LX SOHC ZC

Nice find some people have all the luck I never have the money when i see cars priced like that cant wait for pics.
Proper282

lol! I picked it up from my coworker. I have been trying to but it from him for about a year now! he finally caved when I put the money in front of him. didnt hurt that his truck just broke down the other day and he needed the $  Smile
89 LX SOHC ZC

Money talks.
Proper282

snapped some pics of the new 4dr.... Kinda thinking of keeping this one now.... dont know. Other than the driver door it is super straight, and not a salvage title like the wht one Sad

Proper282

Few more shots

Tried cleaning it up a bit. Took some polish to the hood but it was just rubbing the red paint off. You can see on the passenger side of the hood it took most of the cloudiness away.

Really torn about which sedan I want to keep. I have grown very fond of the white sedan. But the front end needs to be pulled and I don't know if the price of that will balance with the cost of a respray of the red one.  Confused

What do you guys think?

mechanical is not an issue since the ZC I'm building will go into whichever one I go with.....
mitsubishiv5

the red one has plush looking interior
Sancho

+1 for the red
clean title, clean interior,etc.
Greatdeal on the car!
89 LX SOHC ZC

The clean title would sway me toward the red one but youve done a lot of work to the white one good luck on  making the decision id say red.
EF Sedan Enthusiast

Hard, nice find!
Proper282

Decided today that I'm going to transfer the parts from my dx to the new lx and move forward with that. Will be easier and cheaper to get the lx resprayed than to get my front end pulled on the white sedan and swap the lx harness into it. might keep the dx as a beater for a while....
89 LX SOHC ZC

Sounds like a plan man good choice. Very Happy
Proper282

Got the LX into the front garage and stripped out the carpet. lots of cleaning left to do. hopefully ill be able to dye the carpet and get GSR leathers in this week.

And I couldn't help myself, I had to pick up this new welding helmet
[/list]
89 LX SOHC ZC

Holy crap not wasting any time looks like a lot of work.
Proper282

Eh, not really much work at all.... just a few bolts for the seats and a couple screws in each door panel. Cleaning this beast will be the challenge lol! I've decided that while I have the carpet out I'm going to lay down some spray on sound deadener. I know most builds would involve dry ice and a hammer to remove the factory deadener but realisticly, this will never be a track car where every ounce makes a difference. And I dont plan on running a stripped interior. So I figure why not make it a little more comfortable driving experience.
