Project Unicorn (Slow Build)

First off the name wasn't chosen by me it was kinda given to it but I decided keep it.

And now the car. Its a white 91 LX with about 99,xxx miles on it and everything is original. Nothing with it is really set in stone except that its getting a LS/Vtec. Right now I am mostly just collecting parts and then going to start working on it.

Its going to be slow because I have two projects going at once. I also have an AE86 sitting in the garage as well.

So here are some pics of what I have right now.

LS B18B

I also have a B16 head and a few other parts that I just don't have pics of right now. Bought that block and it was painted but it was a good deal. Gonna strip the paint off it sometime soon. And I just ordered my pistons today.

Clean start  Very Happy

Looks super clean, I always see you online but u never post. Good luck
With your build, any links or pics of the 86?  Very Happy
SugeIcee

Yeah I keep a lot of tabs open so it shows I'm "online" a lot but not really.

I didn't really want to start posting till I actually started my build thread figure it would be a good way to start.

No links for it but here is some pictures. Its also a slow build and in a lot worse shape then the sedan. Its 85 Corolla GTS and I am in the process of porting the head and testing. I bought a spare head for that and have been testing different techniques on it to get the best results for the head I am going to be using.

Looks sweet, please do ITBs on it  Smile
SugeIcee

ITB's were the original plan but after research found out they don't make much power all motor. So its going to be turbo charged. Night and day difference from making power out of a Honda to a 4AGE.

Port work looks kind of bass-ackwards... You would get better fuel delivery properties leaving the intake ports rough, then smoothing and reshaping the exhaust ports for quicker exhaust passage. Just my $0.02
SugeIcee

Well the exhaust isnt even touched yet thats why its like that. And the intake isnt smooth. Its not polished just some shaping and sanding.
FlatTireRacer

Yeah I'd open the exhaust up 0.5-1mm all the way around, smooth it, ceramic coat and cut as much of a radius into that exhaust seat as I could get. Just saying!  Wink Looks good though. You're CNC porting, right?
SugeIcee

No don't have that type of equipment. Its all getting hand ported.

Here is the B16 head which will also be getting ported. And traction bar that I got from my old job one of the guys that worked there got rid of it. Going to clean it up and paint it.

I would love to have a traction bar but ground clearance sucks  Sad

You now I love your sedan but will forever disagree with anything that isn't OEM. You have a rare opportunity to restore a piece of history.
SugeIcee

Well I understand what you're saying but to me that more applies to the more rare cars like type r's and such. And I understand that these will become more and more rare but in stock form yeah they look nice to select people like everyone in this forum but to me performance wise they are quite boring in my opinion.
SugeIcee

Well as the title says its a slow build. Just thought I would put an update, havent been on in awhile with a new job working crazy overtime. Anyway yesterday morning I dropped off the block, crank, rods, and pistons at the machine shop to get that stuff balanced, bored, decked, and polished.

Nice updates man

Noice!  Wink

Talk about a fresh setup.
SugeIcee

Ok so been awhile obviously, but with the new job barely have time for much of anything. Got back the bottom end stuff back from the machine shop awhile ago. Now I dropped the cylinder head off with a friend of mine to port it and do the valve job. Also the transmission is all put together. Its a B16 hydro tranny with a quaife LSD.

And now I will be taking the old engine out soon and just getting the odds and ends like mounts, ecu, shift linkage, the the things to make the swap work. Last week I picked up all the gaskets and seals I need too. I'll put some pics up of all this stuff in the next coming days as well.
