new build thread 88 sedan!

hey whats up guys been out the honda game for 5 years and had a taste for it again so i picked up my EF sedan yesterday from a buddy that i traded my 88 s10 blazer to! car was already lowered on coilovers so that was a super plus for me but ima go thru the whole car and give her a makeover here is what i have now comments and suggestions are welcome!

very minimum rust only major damage to the body is a small spot on the hood from a lil fender bender

all lights, handles, mirrors, windows, etc are in pretty good working shape not a fan of the bumpers so those will be painted soon

interior is a little dirty but aint nothing a little detailing can fix in a few hours!

car still has a D15, as i go along i will update this thread and hopefully i can grab some better quality pics for u all
89CivicSi

Nice whats the plans
boxboy90

well first ima fix the little damage on the front end and radiator support  then paint the new hood and bumpers, get those del sol wheels off and maybe do 99-00 si wheels unless i run across a nice wheel at a decent price its my DD so ima just gonna go with the flow
4dred6

Nice, keep the wheels. Gl with the build
boxboy90

i personally hate del sol wheels if i buy another set which will be within the next week or two i definately will sell em dirt cheap
EF Sedan Enthusiast

Looks like a nice sedan to build on. Si wheels are a good choice.
boxboy90

yeah a little poke and stretch seems nice too but if i go that route it wont be dramatic maybe something similar to the white sedan above in the forum pic
stormdrop

im going to agree with you on the del sol wheels, im not a fan of them either. go a little different and get some ep 15"s, loved the way they looked on my buddies ef hatch.
boxboy90

ima keep a lookout online and see if i can grab a good deal

yeah with very little cosmetic items to tackle
HondaJunkie

Sweet cant wait to see the progress I really like those del sol wheels on it though but Si's and blades and even ls mesh I think look really good to. Goodluck with the build sense you built rat/hot rods im curious to see what comes of this project.

UPDATE 7-9-13

Hey whats up guys doing a little update on the car, once again sorry for the cell phone quality pics my digital cam is broken and gotta find time to buy another!

as mentioned my main plan was to tackle my front end damage so today while at work i disassembled the front end to pull the support out

another look at the damage and the engine bay!

nothing too big i rather pull it to look half decent rather than replace it...its my DD so im not really freakin out about it....still waiting to find a hood as well!
boxboy90

heres a few pics of my weekend warrior! past down from my father...

UPDATE 7-10-13

hey whats up guys! another update on my sedan! got some free time at work to fix a few things on the front end and i must say its almost done...still in search for a hood if not i will be fixing my existing hood! now on to the pics.....

the filler piece on the bumper was damaged so its in the process of being repaired

the grille piece above was cracked and broken so that was repaired as well

heres both assembled for a test fit grille piece in primer

old radiator was cracked due to the front end damage and leaking bad today

replaced it with a new one and fixed the radiator support!

painted the grille piece flat black its still wet in this pic

will update tomorrow as well if i find more time at work to finish up a few things!

i built mine the first time then got rear ended and then i did the entire car over
boxboy90

hey whats up guys no major updates this week been crazy busy at work and weather been 90+....have alot of goals this week and next

-fix or replace hood
-find a set of wheels or order some
-replace windshield
-paint hood, bumpers, bumper filler
4dred6

I need to replace my windshield  Sad
boxboy90

yeah i think every car i traded or bought had a cracked windshield  for me to replace maybe its a curse! once i get safelite to come replace it ima have the car tinted including the entire windshield like my monte
4dred6

Already replaced it twice and cracked them within the first 2 weeks  Sad
boxboy90

hey guys found a new and way better paying job at a new collision shop! so more mods will be getting done soon...i took it to work today (25-30 min. drive) mainly highway and experienced a slight problem as i was on the highway traffic slowed down a bit at a certain spot so as im riding car starts to sputter then check engine light clicked on and stayed on but when the traffic pace picked back up to 50ish it cleared up....any advice will be helpful! but on the way home i had no problems but the light did click back on and it seems its only on the highway
89ef2

Congrats on the new job. More money is always good. Car still acting up?

thanks guys and i pulled the plugs for the first time and they were in bad shape and oil dripping from the spark plug wires so i think its time for valve cover gasket and grommets but when i changed the plugs its made a big difference and when i change the gasket and grommet ima replace the wires and change the oil as well
boxboy90

UPDATE TIME!

been busy between the new job and getting my monte carlo ready for future carshows and track days so really havent been tackling much on my sedan but i did treat her to these!

grabbed these off a buddy for cheap in great shape

paint is chipping off two of them so ima strip them all and polish em
4dred6

not a fan of oem wheels, but it will look nice,  Wink
boxboy90

im not a big fan of blades but it was too good to pass up i rather have 99-00 si wheels
boxboy90

QUICK UPDATE AUG. 1 2013

hey whats up guys got some free time after work so i figure i go tackle a few major things needed on the sedan!

the kid before me had rig'd alot of things (assuming low on cash) starting with the oil puddle under the car everywhere i go so i figure why not change the oil and drain plug and gasket. then i seen the trans was covered in oil as well so i figure i change the valve cover gasket and grommets.

the valve cover gasket was so old it literally broke apart in many pieces but previous owner added permatex with it to help stop the leak so i cleaned it all up

this is the reason why i have oil in my spark plug hole rig'd with permatex as well

replace the spark plug wires and cleaned all the oil with brake parts cleaner hopefully this fixes all the problems so i can move on to other plans with the car but im confident its all in top shape again!

boxboy90

we will see how things go after i buy a few parts for my monte carlo... building a nitrous motor for it and its more expensive then i thought but she deserves it
stormdrop

hells yea, make that monte bad ass.
EF4lyf3

I like what i see. If by chance you do some misc stuff here and there on the sedan daily, post your tasks in the "What did you do to your sedan today" thread in general discussion as well as your thread. Helps keep people motivated with there cars and shows new prospects how much of a love we have for the sedans. One big happy circle lol.

Keep the build going shes got super potential!
boxboy90

hey guys had to drop in havent had time to update between countless hours at work and working on the monte carlo is hectic but the EF is still treating me good doing its daily duties ill upload pics soon

nice to hear
