my white ed3 build

This is my first post and build thread.Shocked
Im no newbie to the Honda scene, so I really know my way around an EF. New to the sedan scene. Im a big ed6 fan but
decided to go a different direction This time.
I recently bought a 91 sedan off a friend but needed some engine work done.  The only thing was the fender was pretty beat up, but overall the price was a steal.

In this pic are some of my friends cars. The white sedan is the one i recently purchased.
bac_ed36

I did not take any pics when i painted the bumpers. This is how the sedan is looking up to this point. Still needs some work, maybe a touch up on the the bumpers, fenders and repaint the hood white. I got lots of plans for this 4 door.  let me know what you think.

4dred6

nice. is it just me or u raise it a bit?
i have a extra set of oem side markers if u interested.
Jae_Rex

Welcome. I'm a noob here myself to the EF sedan.
89 LX SOHC ZC

Welcome looks like a good start.

bac_ed36

I decided to start parting out my ed6, but I still kept some of the goodies. Ill post some more pics later today.

This is when they were on my hatch.
4dred6

are u gonna do the rear disk conv. or just LCAs?
4dred6

bac_ed36

Yeah off a 92 integra gsr.
bac_ed36

Forgot to mention that I ordered a Skunk2 front camber kit. They should be arriving by Monday. Ill post some pics after arrival.

I got to thinking, that im going to swap out the engine from my ed6 since its just there collecting dust, plus the engine in the sedan is about to go out.Crying or Very sad  Crying or Very sad
I built the engine and never started it up. The engine has all new components(water and oil pump, bearings, rings, etc.) i got p29 pistons in a z6 block and d15b head with arp bolts(head, flywheel, and pressure plate) 8 pound flywheel, stg. 2 clutch with an LX tranny. A z6 IM mated with an f series TB and y8 injectors. DC headers and was converted to OBD1 which is going on the sedan.
bac_ed36

Forgot to thank 4dred6 on helping me out with the bleeding of the rear disc's. Very Happy

Sounds similar to my build, just using a y8 mani and d15 block mated to a z6 head. Love what you have going on so far with the build. keep up the progress.

bac_ed36

Smile

I finally painted the hood white.
Before

After.(bad pic)
bac_ed36

Swapped in the engine I built that was meant for my hatch due to that the d15b2/z6 that the sedan had just went out. Didnt have any time to take any pics or clean up the engine bay during the process because, this is my DD and needed it for school and work. Did most of the work in a rush. I also converted it to OBD1 with a p28  that i converted from auto to manual.

I took these steel braided brake lines off my hatch.
These are going into the sedan.

4dred6

looks a lot better.
ilove(.)(.)

nice
bac_ed36

I got finally had some time to repaint my bumper.

89 LX SOHC ZC

Looks good now you need the incert for the grill opening and a lip.
bac_ed36

Damn. My engine started smoking today.
I think its the valve seals, not to sure untill I remove my valve cover. Sad
Ill Post some pics during the process.
89 LX SOHC ZC

That sucks man sorry to hear that.
bac_ed36

I have bad news. It wasn't my seals. Something worse!! Shocked
bac_ed36

some pics leading to the problem.

This is were the problem was.
pic has to much flash Mad part of the piston missing.

No. 4 cylinder

Post some pics later. Trying to figure out what to do. Confused
bac_ed36

Forgot to thank 4dred6 for helping me out.  sad
89ef2

Good reason to drop in a b-series Twisted Evil
bac_ed36

^^^
89 LX SOHC ZC

Thats some crappy news good luck man.
bac_ed36

It really sucks, but what else can I do, other than take out the engine.
If everything goes as planned, ill be droping in a d15b2 block mated with a z6 head.
bac_ed36

Going to start the engine removal process today.
ill post some more pics during the removal. Confused
bac_ed36

Had this engine as a spair just in case anything went wrong.
Just going to remove this head and install a different
one off a d15b.

started to remove stuff out of the way to mount it on the engine stand.

The engine was kind of dirty so decided to clean up,

after a bit of cleaning (degreaser/brush)

started to remove the head

and last, I wrapped the engine up and called it a day
4dred6

nice. i might have some updates today. lmk if u need anything.
bac_ed36

I might need some help on the heavy lifting. My engine hoist messed up. More bad news. Mad
4dred6

yeah let me call "barbas" so he can bring my hoist over
89 LX SOHC ZC

Nice work man.
bac_ed36

Quote:

I finally got to pull out the engine and tranny.

This is how my bay looks like. Pretty much dirty.

Haven't done anything to the engine yet. let you know if anything comes up.
Almost forgot. Thanks to 4dred6 for lending your hoist out.

Quote:

Thanks man.
Probably going to start on my tuck or start assembling my engine,
not to sure but ill post some more pics.
bac_ed36

Removed my rear cross member and discovered some thing bad.

another pic from another angle so you can see the damage

Maybe the previous owner cut it out to swap out the s.r. don't know what might of happened there. Question

Going to exchange it for one I had lying around but im keeping the sway bar off the sedan because its
a bit thicker than the one off dx h.b. and going to use a crx hf manual s.r. for its better turning radius.

The top cm is the one that came off my sedan.
bac_ed36

Some more pics of whats to be installed and what i have removed.

Also noticed that the front cross member had a big gap and one of my radius rods was bent.
This car was slammed when i got, that really explains alot.
89 LX SOHC ZC

Really puttin in some work lookin good man.
EF Sedan Enthusiast

Putting in the work.
bac_ed36

Some more pics of stuff thats going on the b2. 8 lbs flywheel(my old setup)

stage 2 clutch

ARP Flywheel and pressure plate bolts

Going to start assembling my engine tomorrow and see how it ends.
Was going to do my tuck but not yet. I gotta mock up my harness to see.
where i got to cut and saunter the wires. (takes lots of time)
car has come along way. lots of hours already invested. cant stop now.
more pics after build

Jaja. I've been to busy rite now. I've been building an LS for a friend and haven't had any time for my sedan. The EK sedan is a little side job just to make some cash that's going towards the sedan.

bac_ed36 wrote:

thats whats up  Very Happy
bac_ed36

Had a little a spare time while parts arrived for my friends engine so i started cleaning the front wheel wells with brush and degreaser. They looked kind of ugly and messy so i  decided to do some heavy duty cleaning.

undercoating removed and some sanding down.

here are some pics of the crossmember installed and the shocks just as a mock up.
still dont know if i should keep the firewall cover or leave it off. AO

Have not worked on my sedan that much due to all the work i have rite now but ill start updating as soon as im done.
4dred6

bac_ed36

wid wrote:

The hood, I just sanded it down to remove the black and left it flat.
As for the bumper I didn't use any clear coat. The paint just had a nice finish.
bac_ed36

4dred6 wrote:

Not to sure about that. Maybe in the future. Its a lot of time and work. Mad
bac_ed36

Picked up an Si tranny today cheap cuz the guy didn't know what was wrong with it. So I started taking it apart and found out that the clip that retained the shaft was out of place. That was the only thing that wrong with it. Ill post some pics later today.
bac_ed36

Forgot to mension that I had placed an order on the tie rods for my rack. Post some pics upon arrival.
4dred6

not that much info to go off of but I would say it would be lack of oil check for any seals that might need repacing. As to Spotting mech. issues, check for any broken/loose parts. Or just tear it  apart and check parts as you remove.

Ill be posting some pics of what I've done to the sedan tomorrow. Cool
4dred6

nice.
bac_ed36

Been real busy and not done much to sedan. Just some minor details.
started the tuck and was mocking it up for placement.

some of the wires i sautered

RH side

Thats basically what ive done to the car so far.
bac_ed36

I almost forgot post some pics of the damaged nippon p29 piston off my z6.
Checked and checked over and over to see if i was the one to blame but everything checked out. rings were perfectly placed. The only thing i can blame is the quality of the piston

completely messed up my block
bac_ed36

also cleaned up my tranny with some paint remover and a wire wheel.

Thats all i have for now. Ill be posting more often.
post some pics tomorrow of the engine harness once im done.
