My "new" 91 sedan!!

Hey guys, I recently got a sedan. My uncle bought it maybe a year and a half ago. Just recently the tranny started to take a dump. Having limited funds, and needing to get to work, my uncle traded it to me for another car that ran decent.

It's in pretty rough shape... But all around not too terrible. Auto trans. 250,000 miles! Burns oil. Reconstructed title, ect.. I wasnt worried about the blown auto, because I would of swapped a five speed in it regardless.

Pics

When I first got it... Filthy haha.

Someone decided it'd be cool to just spray some paint over some rust lol

Narly trunk

Need an antenna...

Bay

I started on the five speed swap asap. Took all of the auto junk out!

Pedals, shifter, mounts ect...

During

Finished!!

Fixed a fender...

I could only asume that this filler panel is from a hatchback... Or a different year maybe???

Some questionable wiring lol

Anyways... You guys know about as much about as I do now haha. Sorry about the lame cell pics.

Yeah it's busted, and there is tape on it lol. Im guessing it happened when the fender was crinkled. I'll get a new one it asap.

Pretty good actually! I went ahead and did a compression test to figure out the smoking issue. It came out with 145psi on all 4 cylinder +/- 5psi. Which I thought was plenty considering it was on a cold engine with 250,000+ miles on it! Anyways I slapped some new valve stem seals on it (Not fun haha), and replaced the pcv valve, and lower spark plug tube seals while I was there. Only to find that the nipple on the breather box was clogged completely!

Anyways, It still smokes a tiny bit. It used to blow decent sized clouds, and now you can barely see it... and you gotta rev it up pretty high. I'm kinda hopin' that its just burning some old shit off. I'm gonna put it on the insurancce on monday and see if I can blow it out. Kind of excited lol.

She's coming along nicely. I've been driving it all week and the smoking is like 99% gone! You can only see a faint puff of smoke if you sit there and rev it up. Which doesn't bother me, haha.

The back tires on this thing were showing wire so I put the wheels off of my prelude on it... They're lame ass wheels, but they are'nt bald lol.

I got rid of the code 19 by plugging in the lock up solenoid and grounding it to the five speed.

ummm... Heres some pics of when the stem seals were replaceed... It's kinda gross in there.

This is the nipple off of the breather box. It was clogged solid.

I ordered a new filler panel and a grille!

Fits sooo much better

I need a real camera lol.

Glad to hear about the maintenance. So many people just buys eBay coiloverss and a lip and drive me into the ground. The new filler is awesome.

Thanks guys!

I took it on a trip to the coast. It's not too far, like 360 round trip. But it's all mountain pass! I learned a couple things. Good news is this little bastard got almost 41 mpgs! Bad news is that this thing is pretty much useless on hills. I didn't expect much but damn, somethings gotta be done about it haha. I haven't had time to look into it, cause it cruises along just fine through town... but I will!

Anyway, I finally got a headlight... Looks great!

And fixed that big ass hole in the dash lol...

Another thing I noticed is that the front pass. brake likes to drag sometimes... Once again I haven't looked into it haha.
EF Sedan Enthusiast

Cosmetically looking good but sounds like you have some mechanical issues to sort out.
Choocko

great build. keep up the good work.

Thanks dudes, I slapped some new pads on her and lubed up the slides. One of the slides probably needs replaced cause it was kinda "pitted" I guess... It wasn't very smooth.... I figured I would check out the pedals, cause after talking to my uncle, I found out that the brakes didn't drag before the 5 speed swap.... Kind of a dumbass move, but the brake light switch was adjusted too far forward haha. I don't think that would cause them to drag, but it definately wasn't helping. Anyway, after the lube and switch adjustment, they aren't doing it anymore, so were good!!

Why thank you. I took it up to crater lake the other day. took it like a champ! It's amazing how fixin' small stuff makes such a big difference. Tuned her up with some fresh ignition stuff and she still isn't the greatest up big inclines... But it's gettin' better... slowly.

I don't think I mentioned it, but recently the rpms started jumping around every once in a while. I was pretty confused because I personally put a new ignitor in it like six months ago when my uncle owned it. Come to find out the connections inside the dizzy were a bit loose... Crimped the spade connectors together with some needle nose pliers like a week ago and hasn't jumped since!! Pretty stoked haha, ignitors aint cheap!... just thought I'd share a cheap fix hopefully.

Oh!! Another thing I forgot to share. After the 5 speed swap, I couldn't get it to idle smooth for  the life of me... I tried all the common fixes of Honda idle probs. For hours I was testing, cleaning, and bleeding coolant until finally.... I grounded the wire that makes the little "P" on the cluster light up hahah. Instantly smoothed out, so don't forget to ground that damn wire!!
EF4lyf3

thank you for the information hahah. how about you post up in the "Write up" thread so numerous individuals ( myself included) can know how and what you are speaking of about the idle.  Very Happy Great progress by the way!
