life changing words from my bro at showa, to youi see alot of "what do i get" threads, and i know i have said in the past i was going to go with Koni dampers and like 2 or 3 differant springs(never a coilover, but to those who want that, their fine, just not for me unless they are part of the shock body.)
I guess i failed to mention that i had contacted koni, and they knew Eibach's spring rates for my car, and could valve them accordingly, even gave me the valve kit number. (i chose Koni because of their lifetime warentee, and i have blown out shaft seals before)
This is so crucial because for best handleing and ride dampen force should be equal in each direction, now this is largely afected with a spring on, and THE ONLY WAY its tested. (big period he he) keep in mind, durring compression the suspension movement works against the spring. durring rebound the suspension movement works with the spring.
Ever ride a bike into the wind and then with the wind, its 2 times harder to travel the same speed into the wind than with it.
So if whoever makes your bike (shock) has designed it to work best at a certan windspeed(spring rate) and its way differant than that when you go to ride, your going to be screwed trying to get to work on time.
This is straight from the horses mouth, my brother in law who works for showa (who designed and manufactured the Stock suspension on your car) in their reasearch and development. saying, spring match, or untill you do, leave it stock.
My recomended investments to improve handling while saving for full price dampers:
Polyurathane bushings, front and rear lower controll arms, and trailing arm bushings are #1 priority
Get a rear sway bar (All crx Si's and Si hatchbacks had them)
or aftermarket front and rear (please install polyurathane end links whenever apart.
If you have coilovers already, or anysprings, just find out your springrates, and thats just as good.
Well, hope i didn't offend anyone.

Thumbs up!
I had a crx that came with egay springs and factory struts... it was the worst ride I have ever ridden.... plus the struts had been blown.
do not put springs on and leave factory (old) shocks in! its not a good match at all!
if you do springs, please do it right!
