installing ek sides on ef

Okay, i know some of you have done this install so is there anyone that can help? Provide pictures on how to do the install? What to cut/trim?
Also what tool did you use to cut the side skirts?

Does it go under the door lip or not?
Any pointers, pictures everything will help.

Provided i can get the right tools and i have the information i will be happy to do a write up for others =)
Thanks

2 ways to install it between the bottom of the door or underneath the metal skirt. i did my ek skirt  under the door cause someone did a hit and run on my door and bottom metal skirt panel left a big open hole. its a bandaid job. i used self tap screws and sanded top part of the ek side skirt for more opening closing door clearance. i cut about 4 or more inches from the front of ek side skirt. and self tap screws from the bottom of skirt to the body. i used tin snips. leave a little extra where youre cutting and just sand it or file it down unless you sharp razor blade. im still trying to find a nice mud guard for the front to look clean. ek mud guard are hard to find. accords pop out.
liljames

can you just use the factory mud gaurds underneath? or are they too small.
Mine has front guards that look like i should be able to fit between
JDQCIVIC4DR

you can use stock mudguard but looks a little off
~Sp33~

The side skirt won't fit between the mud guard and the sill. The skirt will have to sit over the top of the mud guard.
liljames

well my write up has been postponed as when i was cutting the skirts i slipped a sliced a large portion on my thumb. ended up in hospital with 5 stitches.
~Sp33~

Oh dude, i cut the top of my finger off when i was trying to cutting some EG sideskirts. Stanly knife FTL.
nala619

i used a mini saw to cut/file down the skirts. i cut about 4in like JDQ and used self tap screws also. i just kept cutting little by little and fitting it, seeing where i need to cut more or what not. i also just retrofitted the skirt inside the mudflap. i dont know how to explain it well,  but one part of the skirt is inside the mudflap and the other half outside of it. ill post a pic of it when i have a chance.
JDQCIVIC4DR

ouch cuts on fingers thats the worst. sucks it keeps you behind schedule gotta worry about getting it wet with band-aid, washing your other fingers trying to avoid getting the wound from getting damped. infections etc. i stabbed my fingers and palms deep took 3 weeks to kinda heal. just use tin snips its sharp as hell meant for metal.
liljames

yeah i cut it with a stanley blade.
nala619 the pictures would be greatly appreciated.

oh and if its okay i can post up some pics of thumb lol and ppl wanna see lol
~Sp33~

*******WARNING GRAPHIC PICTURES BELOW*****************
I have made them small so you dont have to look, just click on them to see them larger.
i will still be completing the write up in a few weeks when i can use my thumb again lol

Here is how deep the cut was

this is the blood after the wound had been cleaned up and the blood flow stopped. so imagine what it was like when it happened

and the next day after stitches. if i had of keep cutting with blade about half an inch i would have lost that chunk of my thumb.

Mr.ef2sedan

that sucks
~Sp33~

That's hardcore.
nala619

thats insane. ill post up the pics tomorrow morning, i dont have my camera with me right now.
liljames

thanks mate
nala619

here ya go. it looked awkward at first, but i thought hey, i like the look, i dont think many people would notice it.

liljames

naah not many ppl would notice it. thanks mate appreciate it
nala619

no problem, hope you get yours fitted the way you want!
liljames

well change of plans.
i was at the wreckers and managed to find myself a pair of wagovan side skirts.
i think they look nicer and i prefer them being more square, so i will be putting them on when i can use tools again
~Sp33~

How stripped was the wagon? was it an RT4wd one? (although i think they all were in Australia...)
liljames

Im not 100% sure whether it was a RT4WD one, but it think it said it on the back or side. The outside of the car was pretty much untouched. It had been hit in the rear LHS and i guess they wrote it off. Didnt look too bad though. Still had on all teh roof racks and stuff untouched.
The inside was that blue colour, and was in okay condition. As it was a self serve wreckers it had got a lil wrecked. Is there any parts that are rare/ valuable that are worth grabbing just in case?

Oh and whilst your here SP33 if i got a DA integra lip and used a heat guncan i remold it to fit the rear of my car?
My plan is too get two DA lips, cos i will have to cut it cos of the exhause bit, and then remold them around the edges..

also where do u get those sticker strips that you put on your trim...

=) thanks maaaate
ArtyG

Accord Sideskirts trimmed to fit the old four-door, along with a Volvo front lip, again, cut/ends molded to fit.  The sideskirts were riveted on, while the front lip was held on with nuts/washer/bolt combo:

nala619, good stuff on the trimming.  I ended mine shortly, and there was a small gap, but it was hardly noticeable.

Of course, this was before the car was wrecked.

Not particularly, especially with the blue interior lol.

That should work well, i wish i had access to a heat fun when i put on my rear lip. The only problem i think you might have is getting the old bends out of the lip (where it would be a corner on the integra's bumper). Make sure the two you get are the same too, the DA ranged from 86-93 and had about 4 different kinds of lips.

Check Autobarn or Supercheap Auto, it's called pin striping Smile I think i actually got mine from Repco.

Thanks dude, i was thinking of ending it short too just because of the work. but i was just like fuck it. im pretty happy w/ it. but i like yours too, from the looks on the pic it seems like you hardly ended it short. good shit though dude!
btw hows the progress on the wagon skirts liljames?
Mattes

uuuuh, that reminds me of a cut into my finger in January last year.... get well soon!
liljames

umm no progress on them unfortunately.
I cant use my thumb still, plus im right in the middle of uni exams.
as soon as my finger gets better and i have finished exams i will be putting them on. I will probs do a write up for others, but im not sure whether it is worth it cos apparently wagovan skirts are hard to come by?

I will also do a write up on putting a third gen prelude spoiler on a fourth gen civic.

And when i get the parts i will do a write up on the fitment of DA front lips on the rear of the sedan.

These are all the things im doing to my car after exams =)
So i will keep you posted and show pics of the prgress, but probs wont be till about mid november.
~Sp33~

They're hard to come by in Australia. The US has them alot more available.

What're you studying at uni?
liljames

ahh well if there is plenty in the US i may aswell do a write up.
im a first year psychology student  =)
~Sp33~

My room mate does psyche. I think she's in her 3rd year.

I start Industrial Design next year  Very Happy Can't wait.
liljames

nice man, industrial design sounds interesting.

well i have put on my spoiler. I did not do a write up though, because mostly you line it up and drill holes.

I will mention however that
1. you have to drill though the two layers of the boot which can be difficult if you have to drill on an angle.
2. i covered the holes with killrust paint to prevent any rusting from the newly drilled holes.

oh and the boot is alot heavier, and slams shut

Anyways here are the pictures.

Next to come is the wagovan skirts

and possibly red pinstiping? opinions on that please? maybe another colour would look better? can anyone use photoshop and show me an example?
~Sp33~

Man, that looks clean. Great stuff, it looks very similar to the Civic one.

When my car was grey i thought that white pin striping worked well. I think red might stand out a bit, and not match anything? Maybe get some coloured rims and then find pinstriping to match the colour?
liljames

Thanks mate : )
I might have to give white a try then.

The only thing i dislike about my car is the gap from my tyre to my wheel wells. I really wanna get low king springs. Will i need new shocks if i get new springs? Could i just get them second hand...or can like prelude or integra springs go in and make them lower?

And and and anyone got any suggestion for the rims i should put on my car, im looking for something stock and cheap. so integra or prelude rims. nothing like Nr10's or watevs but yeahh suggestions appreciated
~Sp33~

Putting larger wheels on will reduce the gap. 16"s are the biggest you really want to go though, otherwise it starts to look like a 4x4.

You can put king springs on with stock shocks, though the lower your car is the faster it'll wear the stock shocks out.  Integra springs will actually make the car sit higher, I'm not sure about the Prelude, but the Accord makes it sit higher as well so i've heard.

You should try and find some adjustable coilovers. That way you can adjust the height to whatever you want.
