How much drop?

How much of a drop are most sedan guys running?

1.5 is the general concensous i believe
DaSniper

i have a 3" drop on the front and a 2.5" drop on the rear and i can go even lower but pot holes and bumps are a bitch in my area my hatch was dropped 4.5" all around and it was a nightmare to drive around here
Dysturbed_ED3

I'm going with 1.5" Tien S's
I live on a dirt road potholes ownz me.

Icarus

in SA most of the guys have a 40 mm drop, I will also be doing this. Wink

I RECIEVED MY TOKIKO (BLUE) GAS SHOCKS, OMNI POWER FRONT CAMBER KIT AND GROUND CONTROL COILOVER SLEEVES...ITS GOING TO BE 2.0 (FRONT) 1.5 IN THE REAR....WHEN THE ASS OF THE CAR IS IN THE AIR AND YOU LAUNCH, IT CREATES DOWNFORCE....THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED WHEN UR GETTING A MID-TO-LOW 12-SEC ALL-MOTOR CAR!!!! you won't have any downforce when you launch unless there is a 60MPH headwind.

keeping the front lower than the rear is called raking, and it adds downforce as there is a slight vacuum created by having a small amount of air pushed into a larger area after the front of the car.

a front lip that sets lower than the front of the car will make the amount of air even smaller, thus increasing downforce more, theoretically.

i have been on a 4" drop for quite a while, looks absolutely fabolous and the handling is very good

BUT........

since a sedan has 4 doors, people like to sit in the backseat (A LOT!!)... which means instant drop a little more... and then, it isn't that funny anymore... wheels (tires) start scraping and you're hitting every piece of gravel you run in to

so......

i raised it a little, prox. 2-2,5" drop at the front, 2" drop at the rear

i think 2,5" rear, 3" front drop would work perfectly for daily Cool

ookey speaking of which ^^^ if my wheels stick out, like 1.5 inches on the sides. How low can i go??
Type-S EF

I know in green bay, cheese capital USA, that was illigal, all the mud runners if they were run on the street had to have fender flares.

I would guess an inch? not a whole lot, even stock height the wheels will travel into the wheelwell, wich means torn up fenders and probably dammaged tires for you my friend, i would have the rims machined down so they tuck in if i were you.

that doesnt make any sence, look at my page, they cant be machined. And whats the point of ruining the wheels...

anyhow, what if i go coilovers, they would be stiff enought, right?
Misha

another thing is my wheels r 13" only so if i go with the 5o series tire(which is a b*tch to find. Then wheels will be 2,5 inches smaller that a stock 70 r13, so plus the gap between the fenders it gives like 4-5 inches of space right there, i guess my question is, how stiff the coil overs are???
Type-S EF

Machining would be increasing the offset. IMO not rewening the wheels. And as far as coilover stifness, you would know better than anyone of us, unless you care to share what springs are on your car, and better yet, if you know the spring rate, that too.

As far as small tires, i found toyo makes their T1-R in a 185 45 14, thats 990 revs per mile, pretty small, but not 13's so no help to you, i ran 205 60 13's for a while, couple people make those yet.

what are you talking about?

If i would know, i wouldnt ask. If you r hinting to my avatar its been stated that its a chop, everyone knows that in this squad, i got stock susp. right now and stillies.
I have 13x5.5 and 13x7 cragair wheels with 175,70r13 and 185,70r13 tires on them in the garage. I cant run them until i get something really stiff...
