found a motor!Picking it up next week, its a dohc zc...60 bucks only prob is a few bent valves apperantly but we will see, just thought I would share really for no reason im just excited. Now I just need everything else for the 5 speed swap and obd1 swap.

Good engine

cost effective as well which works great for me, and at the very least it will get a 5 speed swap. Im still debating about going obd1 and im gonna have to do an mpfi swap since the zc is going in. Oh and cruise is getting tossed because I have no use for it, a/c blows hot and I dont care for it much so thats gone and same goes for the power steering.

All the luxuries i love!

unless u have skill u can make the ac and the power steering on that engine. but nice pick up and good luck after the OBD1 conversion ur going to like how ur car feels.

steal deal $50 hope its just the valves that are bad.

Well the plan is to do a full rebuild and lower compression for a turbo.

turbo sweet... low compression good = high boost , slight turbo lag sounds fun.

just picked the motor up last night, and since I dont have a garage I gotta clean my shed up a bit so I can fit the motor in there on the stand so I can start the tear down. From what I saw last night overlooking the engine it seems to be missing the exh. manifold, fuel rail and injectors, flywheel, and maybe a few other small things. Oh and also the guy told me that apparently he was told that the motor had some head work done and that it was overbored etc so we will see when I crack her open.

got it up on the stand and started the tear down yesterday, so far got the head off and everything. I can definitely tell someone had it apart, looks like the head was freshened up and has new valves but im still gonna pull it apart to inspect it. Right now im not really sure about the bottom end everything looks good so right now im debating if I should tear it all the way down or not.

Made my decision, gonna fully build it for turbo and drop it in a roller and keep the 4 door as a dd.

ok might as well ask this here...im a bit confused now on wether or not my zc is obd1, I have been told by the original owner that it is obd1 but now im seeing that the obd1 engines never came with cam angle sensors on the exhaust cam but mine has a sensor on the opposing cam from the dizzy. So what way can I really tell?
edit: it also has the 3rd/4th gen style valve cover...ok so if it is a 3rd gen motor that means its obd0 correct?

If it's a 3rd gen motor, you don't want it.
Post a picture and i'll be able to tell you if it's obd1 or not. If you can't then the noticeable differences are:
- OBD1 Map sensor on the throttle body as apposed to the firewall on OBD0
- OBD1 Intake manifold doesn't have PGMFI written on the top of it, just has cutouts on the plate to signify what OBD the engine is.
- OBD1 has a square pattern on the header cover unlike the OBD0 models
- OBD1 has the crank angle sensor incorporated into the distributor unlike OBD0 which has it on the dizzy side of the exhaust cam.
That's all i can think of right now.

it never came with a TB but im pretty sure its a 3rd gen. whats so bad about them?

They don't mount to the EF chassis.

I have already researched this, that only matters if its the usdm version of the engine which has a different engine code stamp this is infact a true jdm 3rd gen zc. I know for a fact this engine has been in atleast 3 different ef's
|
~Sp33~
|
Goodluck then.
Though if it's been mounted in EFs maybe it's a black top ZC and not the brown top from the 3rd gen.

well according to the info I have found as long as it has just "ZC" printed on the block it will work.

They're a completely different engine.

ZC is just like an engine code but they can be different like mine is a D15B from japan.

Its more of an engine series then a code, in the way that there can be several variations.

point is the engine I have is a jdm zc and not the usdm integra engine.

When do you plan on installing it? What kind of mounts did it come with?
|

Dude I dont know why you are so skeptical, it has been in multiple ef chassis's in the recent past and its going to be in another one soon.
and to answer your first question it will go into a 4 door when its done being rebuilt and I find another clean 5 speed ef.

Actually i was just asking about your progress.

OK my bad, well actually im just about dead balls broke right now, so im getting some money this week to buy all the bearings and gaskets I need to get it back together.

and I would love to run a jackson racing s/c on it but from what I have researched that doesnt look so probable.

You could cut an adapter plate to run a regular SOHC d16 supercharger, and bolt it to the plate, I'm not sure what kind of clearance issues you'll encounter though. I don't know if i've ever actually seen an EF/ED chassis with that engine.
Usually it's a tight fit for you crazy LHD'ers with the BMC.
|
sharpie

yeah I saw some adapter plates online but I will just keep it n/a since im poor right now. Basically what I have envisioned in my head is an all white 88/89 body style 4 door with all unpainted black trim and slammed with the zc and a wire tuck with all black interior.

I think they're for the black top ZC, if it's the same one i'm thinking of.
Will be good to see everything start to come together
|
sharpie

yes, I will love to see it come together as well, its gonna be tough since im broke but ill make it work and im not gonna be ghetto riding it either.
