Engine options?I've just gotten my 90 EX sedan back on the road, and I've been thinking ahead a bit. The engine has 173,000 miles on it, and it seems to run fine (although it does leak in a few places), but when I decide to refresh the drivetrain, I may consider a swap. I've heard one of the easiest to do is the B18A1 from the 90-91 Integra, and I think that would give me enough power to be happy (close to 150 with I/H/E). The B-swap would also give me a bunch of future options.
How many people here have done this swap? Is it as easy as people say? I will also mention that I have done one swap and several engine replacements on Civics, although they were all on 84-87 cars. This car is a daily driver, so I would also like to retain A/C. Obviously, the Integra came with it; does it fit okay in the Civic engine bay?

I would suggest swapping in a D16Z6

Ive done couple of b swaps and yea its pretty much easy nothing really hard about it. as long as you you have the right tools, time and patience.

Then B18A1 would be a good choice.

Isn't that true with just about any project?

go B18 LS easy to smog BAR less problems you can boost more, get HAsport bracket for A/C or use DA a/c compressor with custom lines. you can have a total of 5 people in the car and still have power compared to the D16. best of all if you're low cash 87 octane is fine doesn't ping. best of all easy to find parts for LS. its really up to you.

true but most people don't have all of those then they whine & bitch that they cant do it or it's too hard. it just makes it easier and faster to do stuff. lol

I think I'll keep an eye out for a B18A. If I come across one for the right price, I can get it and take my time building it up until I'm ready to swap. I would just hate to make a decision at the time of the engine needing work. I do like the idea of the torque of the 1.8 vs. the 1.6 for a street car.
Thanks, guys.
