EF suspension Q's

Okay so all 4 of my OEM EF shocks are just a bout done... so I picked up a set of 4 good ones but I run into to 2 road blocks.

1) I totally forgot that 88's have the "in box" style (rear) LCA's and the ones the guy sold me seem to be for the 89's and up.  So im stuck as to should i just go ahead and Buy aftermarket LCA' or hit up the local yards and pick Up Some OEM LCA's from a 89-91 EF...

2) next i was looking at the front shocks and the the bottom part and they look like they are from a DA. So I was wondering if the DA shocks Will fit the EF knuckles?

Im getting the feeling i bought the suspension from a DA (the shocks have the springs still attached lol) I hope the fronts can be used so i can have a much stiffer ride... so tired of bouncing all over the place lol  i cant wait to get my Form and Function adjustable CO's

keep in mind the set up is used (so thats why i cant return them LOL)

is your four door an ex?

because the da ones should fit i think.

and i'd say it'd better to spend the money cheaply and get the 89-91 lca's from a wrecker.

It's not if it's an 88. Don't bother wasting your money on aftermarket LCA's unless you want the bling, or have nothing better to spend your money on.

I guess I'm one of those guys that don't have anything else to spend my money on sp Smile

I'd just get OEM rear LCA's unless you want aftermarket bling.  IIRC, the DA's use a different front lower fork b/c their front shocks are a touch larger in diameter than the EF parts.  I could be misremembering though... might be thinking of the DC fronts.  Regardless, you should be able to use the shocks.  If your existing front forks won't fit onto the shocks then you'll need to get the "correct" DA parts to make them work.

Okay Ive read everyone's INPUT and i want to say thanks! after checking out this website   EF Hybrid Suspension I finally had some cash in hand and this is what i found out after spending 1/2 day at the local pick N Pull (junk yard)

The O.E.M front forks from 88-91 EF  will fit the Stock front shocks from a 90-91 DA (i didnt try them on a 88-89 DA)

so basicly what i did was i found a 88 EF (4dr) and removed the font knuckles from it and then found an 90 DA that still had the shocks on it in the yard. I removed the Stock knuckles from the 90 DA and lo and behold the 88 knuckles slid right on to the DA's shocks i was holy cow i didnt have to bang or force them in just when right in... i should have took a pix! Laughing

but i will take a ton of pixs when i do the install on my 88. whoo i can wait to have a non bouncy ride! hmmm i wonder how stiff the ride will be even with it  being lowered since DA's are heavier than EF's

Yea the DC/EG/EK wont fit EF's without changing the forks the DA  stuff fits!

LOL i think it was a  draw on the cost the  shop i go to wanted $100 for some knock off blox LCA i seen the same knock off on Ebay for 49.99 +SH so about $75 to my door with an wait time of 5+ days to get here... i paid 63.26 + a $2 entrance fee so 65.26 out the door... lol so now the question is do i want to polish them or paint them? since this counts as a mod lol

I've seen them dipped in chrome, that looked sweet.
