DOHC ZC or SOHC VTEC ZC

Which one is faster?

i would think either could be pretty quick. i like the way the zc looks and is most likely the route I will take. and if i can find a JRSC for it I will be set!!!!!

I like the sohc zc got a friend with one in a ef hatch fully built on 8psi 257hp 189tq its nasty

well i'm trying to do an all motor powered car cause i live in cali and all the good superchargers and turbos are illegal and i've seen other hondas and acuras are pulled over and they were checking under the hood.

sounds stupid quick. is it all motor or does it have a super charger or turbo?

turbo but another friend got a DA teg with a d16a6 all motor putting 197hp 163tq he got a nasty tune on it and he out runs alot of b18s and he said he pulled a 350z by a car. I have LSV and i just gotta get a tune and imma run him. im sure i pull him by a couple cars Twisted Evil lol

hmmm do you know if it's possible to put vtec in a DOHC ZC?

dang i want to know cause originally i was going to do the poor mans type R but i'm pretty sure with that set up i'll lose all my gas mileage and my 4door is my daily.

Na u be good with a good tune im running lsv and i fill up every week and 3 days and i drive all time lol but if i dont get on it alot it prob last two weeks and i use 93

do you have to put premium unleaded fuel? cause i'm putting in the gsr gauge cluster in my ef and it says premium unleaded fuel only and the basics for the poor mans type r is a b18.

well i just found out that i can't run a ZC motor because i live in cali and the laws kind of suck. sorry for wasting anyone's time.

You beat me to it Razz  IMO, get an A6 and call it a day.  Easy to pass and can be made to be quick.  Or if you want to go obd1, get a Z6.

On a side note, LSV is nasty if it's tuned right.

well what do you think i could do with a jdm d15b non vtec motor? cause i'm getting that from attarco and want to do something with it. my friends always hate on me cause i stay with hondas. they say they have no power compared to mustangs. i want to show them up with something.

Yeah I've been around "those" guys before.  That motor should be fine.  

I would make sure all of the sensors and seals are good.  Then go DC header, AEM intake and get some exhaust work done.  If you have the money, toss in a better cam.  That's just the beginning   Wink

Ur in cali I'm sure they have them everywhere, I purchased mine from honda kings in south florida 45k on it for 550.00 with dizzy and a/c compressor, its a jdm motor d15b vtec 130hp stock

would my tranny still work with it? i won't have the full potential because it's a dx but would it fit still?

you can use any cable or hydro  d series tranny with it, depends on if your still cable or you converted to hydro. My opinion if your swapping out your motor just get a conversion kit cable 2 Hydro tranny. but if your trying to save money just use your tranny you have now ... GL with your build

unfortunately i am trying to save money cause i just need to get the car running strongly cause i have a kid on the way.

well then best bet is to use the tranny you already have , later down the rd. just upgrade to a cable SI tranny same as ex tranny almost

I used to have that same d15b non vtec motor from attarco and it was a great upgrade to the stock motor and is a smog legal replacement motor in California. I live in California and I have a jdm b18b with a b16a civic sir transmission and mustangs ate no problem for my sedan but I also havent had my motor checked over by bar to make it legal yet. B series is an easy way to make EFs fast but it costs more money than stay d series.
