Cheap ebay coilovers???

i was thinking about buying the cheap 50-60 dollar coilovers and upgrade my shocks..is that a reasonable idea since im running a tight budget??
Scotsman

i have ran them on several of my cars , they are way better than cut springs , but you still are getting what you paid for

I will have to disagree with scotsman, I ve had both cut springs and coil overs. And cheap coil overs are way too bouncy I prefer cut springs over cheap coil overs. But that's just me.
LasVegasCivic

so cutting my stock springs are better than buying cheap coilovers?
EF2dudesocal

Cutting springs takes the ridgility of the springs and it will make it bounce a lot and mess up ur shocks pretty fast and it can bottom ur car out I say get the coil overs better

alright thx man

I would say if you want to pay 60-70 dollars more get some eibach or tien springs, they will save your shocks.  Those cheep coil overs are crap and they knock all the time.  Definitely don't cut your springs.

I'm screaming don't do it.save up little by little and get some good stuff .

You're gonna want to save up for true Coilovers. Full adjustability, way more reliable, not as hacked and it's legit. Never go cheap or hack stuff when it's coming down to yours and others safety on the road, especially when it comes down to handling and control. Save up and do it right, you'll thank yourself in the end, I guarantee it.

Save up money for legit coil overs trust me
I had a eg before and I had those coil overs for about a year with brand new kyb shocks and after a while it started riding weird I didn't like the ride after a while so I went to function forms type 1s and it was way better

In all reality they both ride like shit, lol its about personal preference I rode on some with Ebay coils and they were good then I get into another car with them they rode like shit.

Vice versa with the cut springs some were good and bad. My opinion save up for a quality set nowadays you can puck up a brand name set for cheap.

Bought these ^ 2 years ago for $800, they still ride great and I can put my car on the ground in 30 minutes...if I wanted to lol

That was 2 years ago, I've found them for $500 nowadays and they even have an upgraded set with tampening adj.

^These were an extra $300, but you'll want them so you don't eat up tires.

Saw a pic of some cut springs earlier today that were all bent out of shape. Springs are made the way they are for a reason, they shouldn't ever be cut.

^i have the same one in my car and i love it. It was bouncy at first untill i found out how to adjust them and now they ride nice
LasVegasCivic

So what brands would be good for the price??
Choocko

Your best bet is to keep on checking the forums or Craigslist for a set of skunk2. I think they go for 3 to 400 bucks. just saving 80 to 100 bucks a month and you will have that money save up in no time. Remember it's your ride . Me personally i always buy middle end or high end part never go for the cheapest because you are just going to replace them over and over again if you go the cheap route. Just my two cents.

yea i think im gonna start saving but my friend gave me a pair of new coil overs, they are one of the cheap no name brands.

Just as long as they aren't those cheap ass Coilover Sleeves that slip over your shocks and go for 40 bucks on Ebay. Those are junk IMO.
