cannot go over 3500 rpm

yesterday i was in the freeway then the car was running fine but when i got off the cars rpms went real low and the engine shut off then when i turned it on the check engine light came on and it wont let me go over 3500 rpm its feels like its hitting redline any input on my problem im running a d15b vtec obd1 with the dizzy td42u

pull the code, it sounds like your car is in limp mode. its probably the dizzy.

hopefully its a dizzy issue. that kinda sound just like the DA i was driving wont even stay on valve or rod came loose.

Check the vtec pressure switch, its definately in limp mode, the cel should give you a good direction

well my brother ran the code and it read one for the vtec solenoid but im not too sure i still havent gotten around to check it. is there anyway i can get it off limp mode or is that only when i fix the problem? how do i check the vtec pressure?

you can remove your battery from your car for about 10 minutes to wipe the ecu's memory.

im having the same issue

i have a d15b2 automatic. i cant go passed 3500 rpm. it like its hitting the red line... how do i check the check engine light? sorry im a noob lol

You have to jump two pins on the ecu and then the check engine light on the dash will flash the number of the code. Long blinks are ten and short are one. I can't remember what pins you jump though. If its throwing a code for a bad vtec solenoid that will defiantly cause it to go into limp mode and not go over 3500 rpm. It's the ecus way of saving your engine when it loses a signal to a required sensor.

Scratch what i said before since you still have the stock motor and ecu you just turn the key on and watch the light flash on the ecu. the ecu is lcated under the carpet on the drivers side under the dash
