BoomPows 1991 LX Sedan DD/Project

This is my 1991 Lx Sedan threasd. Ive always wanted a ef sedan and someone offered a good price for my hatch so i took it and got my dream car.

I paid only 1500 for the car. Stock D15b2 149k , Cruise control, power windows, locks, steering, and mirrors. Everything works perfect on it. Only downside is someone tryed spray painting it. Pictures below you will see the paint.. then Second day i had it did a complete tune up, oil change, spark plugs, wires, etc. Because when i got it home realized it had no oil... Then second day the transmission shit on me... It had barely any gear oil in it which may have been a reason why, but Took me 4 days to find a cable 5 speed tranny. Got it tryed putting it in and turns out the spline count on the new tranny was different from the original . So had to order a new clutch that matched the spline count. After i got it all in it works fine. Also now aquired a small valve tick. :/ No telling how long the car had no oil before i got it. So in a few weeks im going to get that fixed.

So far im in love with it.

Heres a quick picture of my old hatch before i got rid of it, (i sold it without the wheels)
1989 Civic Si
Stock D16a6
290k Miles
Skunk2 Struts Ebay sleeves
Volvo Front lip, 96 Ek hatch side skirts
Shakotan Exhaust.
Alot of creative stuff to make it my own.

Heres some pictures of the sedan.

MrBoomPow

Should be going in a few minutes to buy my suspension.

Koni/ground control set up.

Im getting a good price so hopefully it works out.

I looked everywhere for this setup at a good price. If i couldnt find it i was going to save a little more. Im doing this car right. No cheap shit. Cant wait for the outcome Smile
EF Sedan Enthusiast

Welcome dude!  Besides the epic fail of a paint job it looks to be in good condition.  Are you using the same wheels from the hatch?  Glad you found your way over here.  I'm really looking forward to seeing what you make of this sedan.

no i got rid of those wheels. and much appreciated man. Im going with a different style on this car i think. Starting out i think im just going for clean, very low, and simple. Maybe some gsr blades in the near future and defiantly a new paint job. and for sure having my own style. Going to be fun
MrBoomPow

Got a new shifter knob Smile

Got my suspension for a good price also.
Koni Yellows/Ground Control SLeeves
Still have to buy extended top hats.
Will ebay top hats work on konis?

MrBoomPow

After the konis and gc. Smile Im happy. need to go bout 2 inches lower. Some blades. Going to start sanding it down in a week or so. I want to go with a oem color. Dont know what yet.

5N4FU

the Koni yellows are a great choice, but dude i dont think u got 2" to go down
MrBoomPow

Im looking at a 89 Hatch with a D16y8 swap. For only 500 i want to swap my sedan so im thinking of buying this hatch for the motor.

The hatch wont start right now. Its also dual point and im pretty sure the y8's came Multi. Idk if the ecu was changed out either for the vtec 1.6 ecu. Ive checked for spark and the fuel pump is turning on. i hate swaps done by other people.

Any help would be much appreciated.

You're better off getting the manifold for a y8, a fresh loom and check the ECU for its code and match it to whatever the US y8's originally came with.
MrBoomPow

well some work issues came up and i got a new place so money is at a halt right now . But soon i plan on sanding her down and painting it. Some oem color. Maybe the oem blue. Something clean.

Agreed. Not with the right tire/rim combo. Low profile tires will make all the difference. Worry about ride height once you have a good wheel choice on the car. Those steelies with 'balloon' tires are killin you!

i plan on buying some clean OEM wheels such as fat fives, si's, gsr blades. to have a good look. I want to go stoopid low lol. With a clean oem feel. Paint soon also. Thinking about an Oem blue.
MrBoomPow

I got a new job and moneys been tight, but ive still got big plans for my sedan. Moneys coming in now so hopefully buying wheels in the next few days.

Heres a pic with some of my friends

MrBoomPow

Main reason i straight piped is to get it tucked as much as possible. Its still quite got a muffler on it.

And yes its my spare, i wanted more trunk room.
MrBoomPow

i just got really lucky today and bought another sedan for really cheap Smile.  Its a 91 Dx model. only problem it smokes/burn oil really bad. Im guessing the rings.. any suggestions? ill post pictures of it in a few days.
MrBoomPow

Heres the other sedan i bought. 91 Sedan Lx. i only paid $300 cash for it. It runs amazing drove it home. It burns oil really bad. Probaly rings. Needs some paint too. Ill get more pictures tomorrow

It came on these old school enkie ek90's. I took them off and put a extra set of steelies on it. Imma polish them and try to find center caps for them. missing 2 of them. Imma put them on my LX sedan

TheGreatBacon

Don't go too aggressive with the sand paper, you'll see the scratch lines through your new paint. Whenever you touch the panels before paint, make sure you wax and grease that area so the oils in your skin don't cause a reaction. Take off as much as you can, and take your time masking anything you don't remove.

oh i know!!
MrBoomPow

I cant make up my mind on the color i want...

Black w/flake
or a darker blue w/ gold flake
My brother has a whole 55 gallon bucket of blue paint. So it would be alot cheaper.

hmmm decisions.

Also i got really lucky and picked up a full D16z6 swap. Motor, ecu, harness, axles, and anything else i thought i might need.

bet you couldnt guess what i paid for it all.. Wink

ill post pics soon. This weekend we should have it painted. Going to do a little body work. I really cant wait for the paint and to get my diamonds back on.
89 LX SOHC ZC

Cant wait to see more progress.
~Sp33~

MrBoomPow

EF Sedan Enthusiast wrote:

I havent chose yet. I have to wait till this weekend to get paid. Still needs some bondo. But im pushing towards blue i think.
89civicracer

Any particular blue, OEM or from another car? Can't wait to see what you choose.  Laughing
mr.$ed@n$ki

Nice progress dude, i recommend a 2-tone color, would be very nice.
I've got a civic owners manual too, very handy to have
Cool
MrBoomPow

SHould be painted this weekend.

Thinking on a blue with gold flake...
mr.$ed@n$ki

That would be very nice, can't wait to see it done ready!
MrBoomPow

Car should be done painted tomorrow:) paint, clearcoat and flake! Smile
mr.$ed@n$ki

Any pictures during the process?
4dred6

Car looks good, cant wait to see it painted
MrBoomPow

I know ive been away for a few, internet got shut off and been tight on money. But car is coming along.

Car is all primered pretty much ready for paint, doing little body work this week and repainting the bumpers and trim.

Diamonds should be back on in the next week or so also.

Still have the plans for the z6 swap, going to order a gasket kit, main, rod bearing etc in the next few weeks and get it cleaned up all nice and pretty.

mr.$ed@n$ki

got sum more pix?
MrBoomPow

mr.$ed@n$ki wrote:

MrBoomPow

Got my diamonds back on her.

Heres a few pics from the last few days.

Still gotta go lower in the front, little body work and then paint Smile

mr.$ed@n$ki

That's goddamn low dude! Razz
89civicracer

Reminds me of Chase's car..

CAR TO THE RIGHT of the Wagon.
MrBoomPow

Ive been off the forum for a minute because of internet issues but ive got some ways on the sedan.

First off huge thanks to a fellow sedan owner on this owner, boosted ef2. He personally messaged me about selling me a trunk rack because i wanted one and then held it for me for a week and everything. I greatly appreciate it too. Still genuine people in the scene. I havent mounted the rack yet but will after paint. The trunk rack was my dream piece for my sedan.

Also i traded my diamonds away for some STR 513s. 15x8 0 Offset. 3 inch lip Smile i had to buy new tires but it was worth it. Runnin 165/50 for now dropping down to 165/45 soon for extra low. Running about -4 camber in the front and -9 in the rear. 3mm Spacers all the way around also.

Also ordered MPC drop forks, they are on back order right now though.. should be here in a few weeks though.
Body work for my sedan should be done in the next few days and then paint next week. Slowly coming along.. More updates soon guys.

EF Sedan Enthusiast

Nice!
89 LX SOHC ZC

Looks much better on those wheels.
MrBoomPow

My drop forks are on back order.. :/ but said to ship out the 18th so hopefully sometime next week.
mr.$ed@n$ki

Very nice bro, wheels look ruff!
u are gonna scrape dat bottum bwoy! Razz
When you've got the forks even more..
You can take a lot of stuff with you on the roof and trunk aswell Very Happy
MrBoomPow

Import Alliance is coming up soon and i want to have my car painted by then.

Already bought the bondo i need for the little bit of body works it needs.
Also bought a d15b7 im rebuilding to put it in after ia, also tuck and paint the bay.

I cant decide on a charcoal grey or a gloss black.
Both would have flake and clear coat but its hard to decide.

Also does anyone have the hook up on drop spindles??

and last i need the measurements for my trunk rack so i place it perfect after i paint her.

Thanks guys!
EF Sedan Enthusiast

I've heard drop spindles are on back order and grey would be my vote but I'm bias.

Where is IA again?
MrBoomPow

I know its been a minute since ive posted but ive got a lot of work done on my car right before Import alliance.

Alot of people may not agree with it but i love it.

Finally got it painted, trunk rack on and got amazing fitment.
!5x8 Rota Shakotans
2 inch bolt on spacers, and cut camber kits with a outcome of a whopping -15 camber.

Alot of the pictures came from the Sedan limbo they had at IA the second day. I had alot of fun dragging frame under the bar. I got a lot of great feedback and probably alot of hate but no matter what if i drove by you looked.

wid

Poor hood, fenders and trunk.
Confused
~Sp33~

Well its definitely low.
EF Sedan Enthusiast

Looking good dude. Did you win the limbo?
MrBoomPow

Shes came along way. I plan on tubbin out the rear fenderwells, and my goal is to tuck rim all the way around. I may change the set up to 1 inch spacers to run around -10 instead of -15. Im in love with how looks at the moment tho.

89ef2

Shocked dat camber doe.
mr.$ed@n$ki

Damn dude, that's alot of camber! SHIT Shocked
