i've often wonder the same thing.
what i was thinking is snice the wagon was awd,go d-series turbo and use the transmission and rear axle, i think you'd have to modify the rear trailing arms of the sedan to take the rwd housing, also i don't know how the driveshaft would go to the rear, might have the make a tunnel of sorts. then pull the front axles and plug the holes and drive it around rwd.

There was a model of the sedan that was AWD. .and it was not the shuttle. I know i have found it online. . let me see if i can pull it up somewhere. . .i could not believe it when i saw it. . of course that was the model that was not shipped to North America. . .

Yeah, i looked into this and gave up, most everything is there, even the bracket to bolt the carier bearing. as far as trailing arms u use the ones off the wagon. and as far as driving rwd, u would be ok if you only used ultra low gear, because it locks the center differential, otherwise it runs though a viscus cupling, and u would burn that up.
my neighbor has one, and if it was a manual i would have already bought it and swapped in all the goodies. i was making it even harder for myself by making it rear disc, and ABS (the RT-Si In trac had ABS and awd)
Hope thats helpfull, Be the frist on here to complete it and make some envy!

IT was also a option on the civic sedan in japan as well, and new zealand.

it was an option that never made it to the US and to find the parts for that convertion that are oem is hard i've been lookin for about a year and a half but the only route to take is to get the wagon awd and convert every thing over. But to find a wagon in 5 spd and for a decent price is a pain in the ass.

theres a guy on H-T forums that did an AWD conversion using 90-91 wagon suspension/brake parts and b-series AWD components... one very nice setup but extremely time consuming and expensive and you had better know everything about anything concerning the cars to be able to finish it... heh.

took out the driveshaft, and then split it apart (maybe to fit in the car)
Anyways, got the car for $650
I think they took it off because the viscous coupling siezed or who knows, but i have my own ideas for a link between the trans and rear wheels, since the car is not going to be a highway cruzer, at least not mostly.
drove well, SL is pretty close to 1st.....and the shifter feels differant, like theres no linkage, like it goes directly into the trans, RWD style, like my 240zx, only with more of a "click" feel
enough of me ranting.........so why is this in suspension tech?
we should have a driveline section, where we talk about clutches, LSD's, upgrade axels, swapping gear ratios. ect. just my 2 cents!

I wouldnt mind seeing that as well, but i think we could maybe incorperate it into suspension tech.. Suspension and driveline tech maybe. I also found the same thing in my car with the shifty, it had a much more notchy feel to it. Id like to see what happens if you rid the Viscous coupling and lie a solid driveshaft in there

well, first order of buisness is get some $$$, for: new stage 2 or maybe higher clutch.
buy my rods and pistons to finish the D17SOHC V-Tec turbo engine
Take the rear end to one of the hundreds of race shops to beef it up (theres one that specializes in rear ends) just say i want this to hold up with 300hp, and its a manual, so figure in some abuse
Im uncertan about a solid driveshaft.....it would buck and bind so i had 2 ideas........audi has for years made awd cars that didnt have a viscous cupling, because they were made awd for handleing and accel, what im going for, not like honda designed with the CRV and the wagon, and EF5, those are for not getting stuck, i want the performance AWD. like honda SHAWD like on the acura RDX and RL
i could be simple and just use a more heavy duty viscous cupling, but thats more weight.....
Audi has for many years used a torsion center differential, but i think the setup is differant (the transmission is not solid biased front or rear, but directly drives the center differential, if that makes sence) something i possably cant do. so its really on the back burner

Yeah i understand what your saying, but i really think that isnt possible.

Maybe we could just get a certain someone who HAS ONE to ship it on over to the USA.... Seriously, find me one, put it on a boat, I'll pay what it takes...

On this months Honda Tuner magazine there was a Del sol AWD. He had a the entire CRV drive terrain including the motor in his car. I think doing something like that is possible on our sedan. Imagine a B20 vtec AWD EFCS drifting.

^^ AWD is not 4WD and the CRV is more like 80/20 at best so drifting is probably not possible. But still would be cool.
