A long time lurker.

Well, my name is Ray. I started off loving Ef's at the age of 14, and plotted away until 16 when I bought my first rustbox hatchback. I've been through 3 ef's and countless setups, and finally wound up in my dream car, a 91 Sedan, lx. After getting screwed over several times. I ended up with a jdm front, b16 swapped wiring nightmare. As the car sits, it cuts hard in v tec and basically needs a new harness. I love how supportive and close knit everyone on here seems to be, and my passion for the car died about 6 months ago. After a brief visit to import alliance with friends, that fire is burning ever brighter which leaves me with some questions. I'll take detailed pictures tomorrow, but generally, I need help sourcing someone to build a harness at a price that won't kill me, and suggestions on going forward. The parking pole works and all but is missing the green lens cover sadly, and I'd love any help finding one. The electric seatbelt wires were ditched when the battery was moved and I have no idea where to start to get them working. Any and all help is appreciated. The mods are as follows:
Jdm front end, complete.
Jdm Ef2 rear bumper.
Jdm B16a motor with a cable b16 trans with lsd.
Innovative swap mounts.
Hasport shift linkage with energy bushings.
Blox gold lca's.
Tokico Illumina struts.
Skunk2 pro series camber kits and springs on all four corners.
Rear drilled and slotted rotors.
Authentic Greddy 4-1 header.
Optima battery relocated to the trunk.
Drag dr16's with blue Rays lug nuts.
Mugen shift knob.
Strut bars and tie bars all around
Aem v2 swap intake.
Ready to go on the car are pwjdm rotors all the way around, a walbro fuel pump, skunk2 cam gears and ebc pads all the way around. Any suggestions on nice parts for the build are appreciated also and I plan to go boost. Thanks guys! Very Happy [/img]

Welcome! Can't wait to see it.

Welcome.  Wiring nightmares are the worst.  Maybe Dana will see this and chime in.  Looking forward to pix.

Welcome nice list of mods cant wait to see pics wiring nightmares suck good luck with them.
FlipRaban92

Didn't realize what a pain it would be with the pictures, it's dark out. Just got off the phone with a friend, and I'll be picking up a spare motor tomorrow, skunk2 stage 2 cams, supertech valvetrain, ctr pistons and h beam rods. He's short on cash for the holidays, I'm getting it all with a type r valve cover for 625 brought to my door.
4dred6

That's a sweet deal
FlatTireRacer

That's an amazing deal!
FlipRaban92

Hell yeah, I've been out of the game for a while, so I didn't know if prices dropped or something, but it sounded too good to be true. He's loading everything up as we speak. Should be able to get pics.
FlatTireRacer

I paid $1200 for mine. It was all stock with a B16 tranny
4dred6

Nice
89 LX SOHC ZC

Nice pick up on the motor.
FlipRaban92

Got everything this morning. $625 and he bought me a low carb monster. Haha, but what's the best method for pics on here? I could put some up when I get home from work.
4dred6

Attaching the files. But photobucket is pretty easy to use too.

Welcome... waiting in suspense for pics
FlipRaban92

Wish I was at home to upload pics. TONIGHT I promise. Kind of hard to decide where to take the build now. What parts to sell/use. Don't know whether to boost or build an all motor, or low boost on high compression with a great tune for a pretty powerband. Decisions.

Here it is with the usdm front end and rota slips

Pics at last. When did the accident happened? Front end looks clean.

Pm Ef sedan enthusiast so he can move this thread over to the project log section. That's if you decide to continue posting.
EF Sedan Enthusiast

Glad you saved it after the accident.  Let me know if you want me to move this thread or you can just start a new one in the project log section.
FlipRaban92

You can move if you'd like. I also forgot, it has a b&m short throw and stainless braided brake lines. Don't know why I thought that was important.
FlipRaban92

Also, the accident occurred about a year ago.
FlipRaban92

Just found these so I figured I'd share.

Always brings a smile to my face when I see a jdm front on a sedan Very Happy

Sweet.
FlipRaban92

Thanks guys! I get a lot of inspiration looking at builds on here, and all of your suggestions would help. Where would you guys take this build? I can't decide whether to ditch the b16b pistons and buy forged. Or if they're safe for LOW boost. Any feedback? I've heard there are crazy response gains to be had by boosting on the all motor cams, with a good tuner. There's an extremely reputable guy here locally who is familiar with hondata that I'd be using.
4dred6

Just go with forged pistons, b16b s have way too much compression for boost.

Waiting to hear back from a friend about trading my pistons and some cash for a Hondata s200-p28. Also trying to line up a plug and play harness. Does anyone on here do good wiring work or sell harnesses?
4dred6

there is this guy over in HT that does nice harnesses (crx_si-r)

thats his profile

An all motor cam would hurt you if it has too much overlap, etc a turbo cam will have specs more beneficial for boost. You could boost on a high compression setup as long as you tune for it.
FlipRaban92

I'm bringing this back from the dead to say this car is now alive and kicking. I got Carlos Zapien to make a plug and play harness, switched to obd1, got an exhaust made, put in a walbro, itr intake manifold, new axles and pwjdm brakes. I've now got a built motor and 2 turbo kits sitting in the garage along with Hondata. Time to go fast.
EF4lyf3

oh man you have the sweet deals influenza hahaha. nice build so far man i like it. I too cream my shorts for a good jdm front. if selling any parts please let us know as soon as you decide. i would LOVE a decent turbo set up  Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy
FlipRaban92

I'll be sure to! I really want to get my hands on jdm doors. My doors are a bit rusty, and I'd like the chrome trim to wrap all the way around. My deal influenza was pretty much:

Went to IA, paid 100 for my portion of the weekend hotel,

Paid 100 for friend's portion for IC piping, feed and return lines and a greddy fmic.
Paid 100 for friend 2's portion got saab garrett turbo/ebay ramhorn.
Gave friend 60 bucks for AEM wideband without an o2 and DSM injectors.
Traded injectors, turbo, intercooler and piping for a B20 block (new from honda, I was like WTF) with JE Pistons, Eagle rods, and ALL NEW BEARINGS AND GASKETS FROM HONDA. All ARP bolts. Dude didn't know what he had, just wanted to turbo.
Bought JVTR log manifold, Emusa wastegate, GTS .57 trim, HKS bov, piping, feed and return lines and a fmic for 300 because the dude was late on bills. Everything is brand new.
Traded a bottle of Controlled Labs Orange Triad multivitamins and 10 bucks for DSM 450's and a glowshift boost gauge.
Scored some RC 550's for 85 bucks.
Now I may be trading the block set up for a K20a2 with ktuned p/s a/c delete, a turbonetics turbo, aem b series cam gears, and a turbosmart wastegate.

The itch hit again. I've also got a b16 block with scat h beam rods and arp bolts just chillin. I'm having trouble deciding where to go with the car next.
EF4lyf3

JEEEEZ!!! you dont have influenza...you have a disease! lmao thats all some really good steals man! i hope the build goes well, and any questions feel free to ask. im sure you dont have many though hahah
FlipRaban92

I should start a poll.

Should I:

Sell the k20 to finish the b16 block
Assemble the b20 block and do a b20vtec
if so should I boost it on low psi? (the pistons are 12:1) I'd run e85
boost the stock motor for now?

Forget to say I also got a Greddy Profec Spec b2 for 150.
EF4lyf3

NO!!! Do NOT boos the B20. unless you sleeve it and get specific cams cut  for your build. along with cam gears. To properly do a reliable B20. You need to BUILD that motor. NO half ass ANYTHING.... the cylinder walls are way to thin to force any higher amount of pressure in there.

Unfortunately, the b16 is a waste of time. B16s are not high output motors AT ALL. No torque, very short stroke...i wouldnt waste my time on it.
EF4lyf3

I PERSONALLY, would sell both blocks at good return prices and build an LSVTEC. They are strong, torquey, and higher output. Those cylinder walls can hold 4-500Hp stock. Imagine sleeving it...yea...BEAST Wink.

**KEEP THE B16 HEAD**

That bad boy is not cheap and a very good platform for poormans typeR.
i had a buddy do a poorman build with a b18c1 block (GSR) and b16 head. head had TypeR cams and Ferrea valves, springs ,and retainers. Block had TypeR pistons and eagle rods. He made *AND I QUOTE* 232WHP and 195T. I remember him eating everything on the street for the longest. He also had a cable GSR trans, buddy club headers and exhaust and AEM CAI with TypeR IM... this build only cost him 3000 by the way....Power to bank ratio seems pretty awesome to me.
FlipRaban92

I don't know. My power goals aren't ridiculous. I just want to roll up some nice cars and have fun on weekends. I feel a rod/piston built head b16 with a small turbo and a reliable tune would hit the 350 mark easily. What're your thoughts? If I didn't already mention it, I have a b16 head with supertech valvetrain, and might be picking up Blox Type-B cams on Friday.
EF4lyf3

well 350 daily (*you did say daily driven correct?*) is pretty damn high.  stock will only handle 400 on the sleeves. that much load for daily use is very high, infact its pretty high for weekend use on stock cylinders. Anything can make 350 with forced induction via turbo, but building it to properly handle it is another thing. the b16 on boost would be ok i guess. but you prolly would have to put about 15lbs with other bolt-ons and a really good tune on s300.
FlipRaban92

No I daily an 09 Versa. The EF is an occasional fun/weekend car. I would run forged internals with all new bearings/bolts/gaskets with a built head and a solid tune on s200.
EF4lyf3

boost option is s300. s200 is allmotor/nitrous options. I think a lot of our peers would suggest a sleeve. built head is great, built bottom is greater. your block is what takes all the strain.
FlipRaban92

There was absolutely an s200 with additional boost option.
EF4lyf3

i stand corrected.
FlipRaban92

It's all gravy. I questioned it at first myself. I was told by an engine builder tonight that once a Honda block is honed it will typically burn oil? He suggested either boosting stock block or sleeving. Is there truth to this?
