OK, for some of you who do not know. I just recently converted the front end of my 89 civic to the JDM front. I decied to doa little write up because before i did the swap, i could not find any information on how to do it or what i was in for. . so. . here it is. . if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me and i can explain things in further detail to you. . .
SO, here it is. . . with some text. . .
I started out hooking up my 89 civic lx back in the early 90's. Before the whole import craze hit. .This is what my car looked like back then. . .

Then i got tired of the kit and having to be careful over speed bumps, that i decided to purchase the JDM front end. . Thanks to JPR for the hook up! I got the complete front with hood fenders and all. .
Here is the process to convert to the JDM Fornt. . .
What you need!
Drilling out the spot welds. . .
Spot welds popping off the old clip. . .
In this swap, you also need the headlight buckets. .
This is what you need for the swap over. . .

NOW. . taking off the USDM parts. .
Test fitting the JDM fenders. . .I also swapped in the windshield washer resivoir from the front clip i had. . it is slightly different. .
Test fitting the Radiator Support and Headlight Buckets. . .
areal shot of the radiator and headlight support. . with the EF2 tag. .
JDM Headlights test fit. . .
After the test fits. . I had to rewire the headlights, Wire up the fog lights and the bumper pole. . (Having the wiring harness works best for all these things) Here is the final product. .
This all took a weekend to do. .

Then i took it for a quick shoot. . before the rain fell. .
I know i still have the bodykit bumper on the back. . so. . thanks to another friend. . i got this. . .

Car will be painted dark blue. . like the doors. . It looks grey in certain light. .
And the bumper was from a friend in Cali. . . Along with the 88-89 JDM tails. . that was a lucky find!

The pole is a love or hate thing. . People like, people dislike.
It came on the bumper already. All i needed to do was wire the thing up. . so, might as well wire it. . otherwise i would have a hole in my plastic bumper. . .
I like it. . .especially the little honda H on the top of it. 
Thanks for the compliment on the car. . it has been a long process to get it where it is today. . .lot's of blood, seat and tears. . .literally. .

Front bumpers?? not much that i am aware of. Some bumpers come with the bumper pole and others with the fog light holes. . some come with a lower lip. . . but overall the bumper does not look too different from the US one. It is the fenders, radiator support, headlights, and the hood that are really different.

The car made it's 180 mile hike down to the bodyshop this past weekend. I am hoping to have it back this next weekend before x-mas. .

I got new cv axels changed on it also. Gotta love lifetime axels. Cost only $60.00. . .(labor) to install. .I hope i get it back before X-mas.
Last i heard, it still needed to be painted. . but the bodywork was started and on-the-way. . .

Yea. . long story. . the car is painted. . The guy that sprayed it was not happy with the way things came out. . so he is repainting the entire car again. . .
I need to learn patience. . The car looks good. . i just saw it a few hours ago. . but it will end up looking GREAT with a little more patience from me. . and the body shops guys keen eye. . He caught some things that i barely noticed. .
So, that is the update for now. . keep you all posted. .

Long story. .(here is the condensed version) I pretty much gave this guy his start in the Fix-up-an-import industry. After he did my car 6 years back, he was working at a place called Uprising Autobody. I went to shows lots of events back then and recommended so many people go to him, that he eventually went out on his own. He has been busy non-stop since then. So, i am getting a hook up when it comes to getting the entire car repainted and all the dents, dings, and things installed on it. . . My bill is $550.00. That is it. . He had to get the paint outta that . . but beside that. . that is what he charged me for everything. I think that is a GREAT deal.

Looks like your one piece headlights are 9006 9005 insted of the all in one 9007, do i see right, are there two kinds?? makes me want that JDM grill, but that means going all out JDM front and that means $$$

one opinion, I know its too late, but the parking pole is on the wrong side, or maybe your driver seat is... one of those. 
it looks spectacular though... first pics I have seen of a completed with paint jdm outside conversion heh.

The bumper came with the pole in place already. . so i was not going to change it. . i would not know how to conceal a plastic hole on the bumper if i decied to move it anyway. . so. . it will stay on the drivers side. .
As far as the headlights. . 9005 and 9006 are the types of bulbs? Right?
I am tired of seeing this car done in grey. . everyone has it done in grey. .It came in other colors than grey. . . The original color for my 89 was b-37 (florence blue) i believe). . so I went with that. . Nelson's 88 was done in that sky blue color. . and I have seen it also in black (i do not know the real color codes, but the general color was sky blue and black)

NAW, that was where it was on the bumper when i got it. . i did not want a hole in the plastic bumper if i relocated it. . so i left it. . it really does not bother me. . it does not really come up unless someone asks. . or i am at a show. . I installed the bumper as it was delivered to me. .with the fogs, parking pole, etc. . . i just needed to wire it all up. .

Just swapped over to OBDD-1 with the car. .
Rywire is the shit! their harness made the job 10x easier than re-wiring. .

MAN. . .so. i went obd-1 this weekend. . we ragged the shit out of the car for a good 1/2 hour street tuning it. . .then my head gasket decided to take a dump. .
SO. . since then until now, we have been trying to get an MLS headgasket that can take compression. . .and cannot find one for the A6 motor. . .so. . .i am going another route. . i am going to swap to a Z6 Vtec head. . my cam shaft, springs and retainers will have tp be sold, but i will have vtec. . . Now i will have to re-tune the car all over again. . . I guess when you are as far away from stock as i am. . things are gonna happen. . . I'll keep you all posted. .

It actually turns on, it does not glow or anything, when the parking light are on. It was a specialty thing in Japan.

It is wired to turn on with the parking and headlights.

Correct ~SP33~. . . .It does not glow. . it has two bulbs behind a mounting plate that turn on when you turn the headlights on. The plate is a specialty plate in that the green parts of the plate are clear green plastic. Thus allowing them to light up at night. . . when the headlights are on.
I cannot think of another way to explain that beside taking it off and showing you pictures. .

Here is a picture of the back end of the license plate. Behind this are two bulbs that turn on. . that is why there are the two wires coming from the plate. One for power, one for ground.

Naw. . they are the yokohama avs es100's.
I have them on both my cars and i have no issues with them.
I may change for me RSX-s but for the civic, i think they handle great in wet weather and dry. They are gummy and grab the road nicely.

Got back from my 838 mile trip to Atlanta. . .
The car did well. . it was the only 4g4d in the entire place.
There were a few really clean EF's and CRX's but i was the only 4 door. Anyway. got tons of pictures i will try and post soon.
I also got 2nd place in the JDM Style Civic / CRX / Del Sol 73-95 class.

hahah! that was right before i was leaving to drive back. I taped up the front end, just the areas that are metal, to prevent the rock chips from chipping at the paint. . . . what sucks is that i got some on the side of the car and the trunk, but the front was fine.
There were cars there with their front end completely taped up. . .i did not want to do that, so i just did a section.

So, what does it mean when it is hard to get into first and second gear. Recently, after my car is warmed up, it is a struggle to get into first gear at a red light and sometimes second after i start. What does that mean? is my clutch going, or is it the transmission? I have had the ACT clutch on my car for over $40K miles. .
Any help would be appreciated. .

if its just those 2 gears, i would suspect syncros, but try adjusting your clutch, it can make a big difference if its too tight or loose
