88 Dark_CivLude's: 88 EF sedan

What up everyone...I'm new to this site and this site is Outstanding!

I love representing my EF sedan out in Sacramento ,CA... I picked up this little jem about 4 months ago with only 141,xxx miles on it for a song and dance of $600 dollars (us) and I have not looked back since!

The day I brought her home awwww!

Im still up in the air about the plates lol I want "Turbo EF"

Im loving the new 95 del sol SI rims i just got from my boys del sol

yes she dose have only one wiper lol old school euro tuning

can you believe that shes only 20yrs old and only has 141k on the clock and i got her 3 times under her KBB that was a steal!

Just a couple pics of my 88 ef sedan as of today..

It's got a couple upgrades to the interior and exterior but completely stock on the motor...

A few of the upgrades are neuspeed adjustables coilovers,Tokico  struts (going to be installed in a few days), Del sol SI wheels, JDM Corner markers and  Tsudo exhaust (going to be installed on the 5th yay)

My Future plans are:

Engine wise:

Im still up in the air on this:

B18A Turbo or D16z6 or y8 turbo

my dream now is to build a Quazi DX-EF5 ( real time all wheel drive is soo sexy) with a turbo D16 (i know id have to find a wagon with 4w dr ad snag all the parts) but im still researching what EF5  transmission/drivetrain can handle on that and plus it would be sweet to say i have an all wheel drive 4dr turbo civic... but i just migh go with the B18a set up cuz im looking to put down at least 360whp with the b18a set up im planning

Interior wise:

LX power windows (damn dx crank windows lol)
LX/CRX dash/cluster swap
teg/del sol/ 92 EF seats (dont know which ones i want yet)
99 Accord center console (a custom install in progress)
LX power door locks
full color change (going from blue to black)
sunroof (have to wait till the summer for that lol)

exterior wise:

90-91 LX front bumper
90-92 DA front lipfrosted clear taillight with matching corners (not those fruity altezza lights) these im getting are old school wont no body have these mwhaha
full body shave: removing the plastic body fillers and shaving the rear door handles.
custom 85-87 CRX SI  wing

Very Happy  thanks everyone! It just nice being among people who share the same madness that is the Ownership Of EF Sedan!

My motto is:

"Anything you can do to an 5th gen civic and beyond you can do to a 4th gen EF and look wayyyyy cooler!" lol

Ill keep you all posted on the mods! i cant wait till jan to start the engine build... turbo ls or turbo d16 power!

like ~Sp33~ said "you can turbo any engine."

mainly i plan on it being a street/drag strip car.  a fair amount of horse power and torque while still maintaining the ability to drive it on public roads (a 500+ hp civic would be a pain in the ass to drive on the street among other issues it would have lol) and if and when i take it to the track be able to keep up or beat the crap out of domestics

the key is having a realistic goal in what you want your motor to do. Me, my goal is 360whp/270wtq @ 15 lbs if i go with a B18a engine built correctly...  round about 340whp/270wtq @ 15 lbs if i go With a d16z6

My advice to you would be set a realistic goal plan then research research research!! then plan your budget correspondingly because:

"you can make anything fast, it all depends on how much money you want to throw at the problem"

I think you'll be making less torque on the D16, but I think you would be able to get it to rev harder and make more power then a non vtec b18a.

true, the d16z6  with a properly built head will out rev the b18a hands down. the poor flowing heads thats the weak link of the b18A's... but they can make power just as well...  as long as you dont plan doing any high speed endurance (freeway) races lol

Im sold On the D16z6 setup... after checking this out this   400whp d16z6 realtime 4wd 91 hatch

now I know the ef5's tranny/drivetrain can handle 300+ hp hehe now to find a civic wagovan hehehe  car

Good luck on ur build. i think single cams are good for what u pay for.

Thanks I cant wait to start! no more PS3 for xmas I want  a d16z6 for xmas now! lol

yea Everyone kept telling me that I should go b-series...
the b18a ive found to be as cost effective as the D16s but the heads... you can make gobs of low end power with them but you lose most of your top end grunt... Getting beat on the freeway by a mustang with only bolt ons would be a bad day...

Now B16's and B18c's are good motors but at $2800-$3500+ is not very cost effective for the gains IMO. for the cost of a low mileage b18c you can get a d16 (if you dont already have it lol) plus the turbo kit (non prepackaged like the Greddy or HKS kits which are over rated IMO) and everything you need for between $1200-$2 which still leaves  $2300-$2500 for the most important part the TUNING (but thats to say your doing all the wrk yourself and outsourcing the tuning)

those numbers are kinda of conservative but with a D16 hell you can produce a 400 hp Civc for well under 4k and still have it be an reliable everyday driver(all in the tuning.) I have to use that argument every time my friend brings his 95 del sol around that has a b16 in it...   cost vs gains  i win every time by saying "we all wernt blessed with b16"

i havent even told him about the Realtime AWD plan lol
~Sp33~

My personal opinion would be: If you plan to go B series, go VTEC, or you might as well just have a D.
