88 Civic Sedan AUTO problems....please helpOk, remember my sedan is an AUTO
1988 Civic Sedan LX.
When driving my car it runs great. Timing is perfect and plugs and wires are new. When I come to a stop at a light, the engine will stumble every once in a while. When I put the car into neutral, it wont do it. When in drive, it feels like the car is wanting to move, like the trans is unlocking and wanting to go. The idle dropes and the car lurches just the slightest bit.
A tech at my work said possibly the servo/switch that controls the torque converter when the car is stopped in drive could be going out. I have never heard such a thing, but the car runs like a champ besides the stutter at a stop. It is getting worse, but still the car shifts and drives like brand new.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Theres your problem.
...
I would take the mechanics advice. It sounds like it's still transmitting torque to the transmission. If it was still doing it in neutral it would be more engine related, but because it's only doing it in gear then i think it's more to do with your transmission.

try replacing the TCC solenoid, its on the front top of the transmission, its the only thing on the trans with wires going to it besides the starter....and the manual swap is easy, i did it in one day, and did a timing belt and water pump at the same time and a new clutch. I did make the clutch cable hole in the firewall and installed the manual pedals the day before, but i was still able to drive it.
