'89 Civic LX, too stock for me.Lots planned, just waiting for the $$$...
Now:
Tired ass stock motor (155k miles)
Dying clutch and axles
Blown struts
Faded stock paint and interior
Jensen indash TV/DVD, old ass Excelons up front, Jensen amp, Poweracoustik sub
15" Drags on Falken ZIEX
AC Autotechnic intake (AEM clone)
Neuspeed front strut bar
In the next month:
Exedy clutch and F1 Racing flywheel
rebuilt stock axles
clear corners and bumpers
Raybrig headlight/corner/bumper bulbs
In the next 6 months:
Skunk2 springs and struts, or Neuspeed Race/KYB AGX (not sure yet)
VW Mk.3 Jetta/Golf Euro deep front lip (blasphemy?!), EK sides, DA rear decklid spoiler
"Vision" eBay special sideview mirrors
Heather Mist Metallic paint, keeping the moldings black
redo ICE (new components up front, amp, sub)
By next December:
MPFI swap, SOHC or DOHC ZC, maybe forced induction, possibly nitroused
reupholstered interior
new rims and tires (so hard to find nice 16"'s anymore...)
whatever else comes to mind...
My old '91 ZC powered EX (before paint, and me 5 years and 75 lbs ago...I miss the Sparco Viper Fangs. )

Is that plus or minus?

I was approx 375lbs at the time that pic was taken, I'm "down" to 300lbs now.
New Years Resolution is to hit 250 by this time next year.
EDIT:
Found my old thread in Pics & Vids, pics of the finished '91 and mods list there. I miss her still.
My baby.

Came up on a Jensen indash TV/DVD player from the same friend that hooked me up with the Neuspeed strut brace and AC intake, while I was at it Dynamatted the trunk lid and the rear deck...pics later because: A) the harness isn't the right one for the unit, it works but the speaker pins on the harness into the head unit are wrong (fade and balance are totally wrong), and the parking brake wire is missing completely (so no DVD or PS2 whether or not it's parked) and B) I'm lazy right now. Maybe later.
Also, whoever installed the rear deck speakers ghetto rigged the shit out of them. The 10 year old Jensen coaxes that were back there suffered badly, and are now at peace (just like the 12 year old Kenwood Excelon triaxes up front are about to).
Did the '89 LX's not have rear speakers stock, like the DX's? I know my '91 EX had some cool ass stock 6 1/2" pods back there...thinking of getting the stock 6"x9" pods out of a 89 Accord LXi or 90-91 Accord EX instead, ditching the sub and copping a 4 channel amp for all the speakers.

Thanks for the compliment, I always liked the old GAB's but I wasn't gonna pay $1k+ just for the look, I'm not a hard parking JDM whore.
As far as the engine choice, it's always been a hobby of mine and my wife's to shit on people with only one cam. Her favorite thing in her old built SOHC CR-X Si was breaking off GSR's and EK Si's.
Since it's a DD, easier to repair/replace if something goes wrong, no hassle from the cops, I'm more familiar with it, and it's generally cheaper to build and maintain.
Not that I wouldn't LIKE to have DOHC VTEC or LS power, just not in the cards right now.

Found *another* part that needs replacing...
Checking my tire pressures the other day I noticed that my less than a year old Gorilla/McGard lug nuts are already rusting. Seeing as how the car has been garaged for almost a year and never saw rain before this week I am confused as to how this happened.
Black Mutekis coming soon.

Which, the black Mutekis or the McGards?
I had a set of McGards on my old EX with the Sparcos, driven 70+ miles a day in all weather and never had an issue with those so I don't know what the hell happened.
I did have Mutekis on my Aerio with these rims. Loved them, didn't take them off the Aerio when I sold it due to the difference in thread pitch.
Either way I get paid Friday and will get ordered the same day, so I should have them soon. Clutch and flywheel going in a week from tomorrow. New axles 2 weeks after that, along with the thermostat, O2 sensor, muffler and new speakers.

Ordered yesterday, should be here Monday or Tuesday and installed by the end of the day on Thursday:
Exedy organic clutch and F1(?) flywheel (looks just like an ACT so I dunno)
EBC x-drilled rotors and Hawk HPS pads
rebuilt stock axles
stock 02 sensor and thermostat
Clarion coaxials front and rear
Depending on how much dude decides to charge me to install all of that stuff (minus the brakes and speakers, I do that myself) I could possibly have my K-Sports by the end of the week as well.
I'm so excited, 30th b-day gifts from my wife and grandma.

So the head unit my friend gave me was a real piece of work. Kept blowing fuses, didn't feel like dealing with it anymore. Went to the local Best Buy, copped me a new Kenwood deck, some Sony coaxes for the front and Fusion mids for the rear deck...
From the looks of the front speakers that were in there, they were top of the line Kenwood Excelon triaxes...about 15 years ago. There is literally no surround left attaching the speaker to the frame.
The new Sonys were cheap and they fit, sound pretty good for some base model Xplod shit.
Yesterday the Exedy clutch, F1 flywheel and new OEM axles got installed (no pics as I didn't do the work), but today got down and dirty with the EBC rotors and Hawk HPS pads.
I still haven't installed the O2 sensor or thermostat, need a project for next week. But driving it with what's done now, it's like driving a totally different car. Time to ditch the dual point I think.
Next payday it's gonna be time for smog check and registration, and after that maybe my K-Sports and KYBs...I don't know yet.
PS anyone in the 805 who has an inkling for coming and "checking out" my car's ICE, please know that it's protected by a black lab mix, and an angry white man with a shotgun and a .22 rifle.

Been a while now, just wondering how the rotors look, has the coating kept them from rusting?

Yeah, the rotors are good... the brakes on my Civic are better than the brakes on my 3.2TL. LOL
I got my Skunk2 springs on right after those pics were taken, low as fuck and bouncy.... needs struts, still handles waaay better than stock. Freeway onramps are way more fun. But read on.
Kind of an update, I'm sure some of you saw that in my garage sale thread the wifey and I split up...I moved out to Phoenix, got a new job and a new daily (2002 Acura 3.2TL)...at first I was going to sell the Civic as it needs more work that I couldn't justify spending the money on (new tires, oil pan, timing belt + tensioner, water pump, ???) but decided that I like her enough to keep her around... so she's sitting in the garage, driven once a week or so until I have enough money for a single/dual cam ZC and MPFI swap... not going to happen anytime soon though.
