After so many rumors I think our prayers have been heard, at least at the design studio of Toyota in France. They designed this successor of the Corolla AE86 that will be debuted at the Tokyo Motor Show. Luckily for us Dino will be covering this show so I'm sure he will get us all the details surrounding this car.
I do know that it will be powered by a 2.0 liter boxer engine that has been developed by Subaru and that it will be rear wheel driven. The engine has been placed as far back as possible.
As you can see there are some styling cues from the old Hachiroku. The object was to make a very light compact sports car because Toyota doesn't have something like that at the moment in their line-up.
It is already being said that the car will be put into production in 2011. I for one can't wait to see this car go into production, finally some good news regarding the car industry.

Nice... I like how the european and japaneese car designers are moving forward while the domestic designers try to resurrect the old classics...what up with that?? _________________ 無限Power///

? what.. This is resurrecting a classic, its inspired by the AE86.
As for the US, a lot of there "Retro" models are euro designed, i know the Camero is... or I think it is. -shrugs- I love how the use is bringing back the classics. YOU cant say the SRT8 Challenger isn't the sickest to hit the streets! _________________ EF Sedan Squad #129

The outside looks fantastic. The inside is hideous, but i doubt much of the interior design cues that i don't like will make it into production. _________________

i think it looks great, i hope the interior is different though.
Toyota should just re-make the ae86 for a couple years, along with Honda and EF's
