It is going to run on 114 octane. And NO it will not see the street in this fashion.

Custom Arias Piston with the correct deck height for the d15. Not just a d16 piston in a d15 block. I had them made for the specific rod length and deck height

Well I got the engine in yesterday. Today I am going to try and get the rest of it all together. I still have some wiring to do. And a few other things. Hope to hear it fire up in a day or so....

Well lastnight I got the header and some other little things on the car... I had to beat the hell out of the cross member. 88-91's have 2 different styles. I got the one that sucked.  I am going to get fuel and oil today. I hope to have it all ready to fire up this weekend.

With the car 90% done. We may not have all the parts we wanted on it this year but money has been real tight to say the least.

We are just going to roll with it and see what happens!!

And here is the battery we are using for the car. It weighs in at just 3 pounds. And is very compact.

Very Happy wow that is awesome. do the carbs flow better than the multi point fuel injection system? better power? i'm not knocking you, definitely not knocking you for your work. its badass. just wondering the decision of carb over injection. Very Happy

I chose to go with the carbs because they are an inexpensive power gain. Back in the late 80's was when I first started with carbs on D series engines. Back then we had no kind of tuning capabilities we now have today. We were averaging a 20-25% increase across the boards with the addition to carbs.

I am also allowed to run a much larger camshaft profile with the carbs then with the stock MPFI.

I dont need an ECU to tune. This means I dont need to spend big amounts of money on tuning and other electronics.

As of now the only dyno numbers I have from the engine are from the previous p29 build 2 years ago. 162whp. After I calculated everything, the engine was actually just under 11:1 compression. I was expecting better with the current build.

Unfortunately, we were not able to make a clean pass this fall with the car. So over the Winter, I plan on pulling the head and checking for any kind of damage. Porting the head and fuel system. Along with redoing the suspension is in the plans.

Do you think that you would gain more power if you switched to an upgraded fuel injection system? Do you have any problems with the carbs leaning out at high RPM?

If it was legal in the class we race in to go with ITB's, Kinsler injection would be the choice for me. All I have to do is make the call to Scott @ Kinsler and I am in. But unfortunately they are not legal yet in Street Stock. But like I said. Going this route is not cheap at all. Cheap and fast does not belong in the same sentence ya know.

As far as leaning out. The Weber carbs dont do that. When I had Mikunis on my DD they were known to lean out up top. My AFR's stayed pretty much even all the way through the rpm range.

Going to start the Winter refreshing tomorrow. Compression checking all of the cylinders first. Then going to rebuild the carbs. Then off to redo the suspension.
