Picked her up about a month ago, 1988 Honda Civic LX Sedan. Paid $700 for her with a hole in the block of the stock D15. Everything is stock except the radio and the integra wheels.
I'm going to swap my GSR in it that I pulled from my CRV. Smile

When I brought her home, 4 hr drive to jersey to get it and 4 hrs back.














One thing I thought was awesome is even with a hole in the block it started right up and I drove it like 10 feet lol sounded like hell but she moved!!

I dove right in and tore the engine out

Next I picked up a manual steering rack from a 91 si hatch and removed all power steering components. There's just something about manual steering that makes you feel like you're in control, plus you don't have to worry about leaks! (No pics of swapping steering racks Sad ) It was pretty straight forward though as long as you have the sub frame that goes with the manual rack everything bolts right up.
While I was in there I noticed I need lower and upper control arms, upper and lower ball joints and inner and outer tie rods....in due time.

Removed all A/C components


removed the evaportor from under the dash

Then had some help pulling the GSR outta the CRV Smile My wife and my son


Here's where I'm at now



Almost have every part to put the engine in, just waiting on the DA post mount to be shipped and the GSR will be in! Then it's wiring and front suspension but I gotta sell my CRV shell to fund more parts!

Thanks! The DA post mount came in yesterday so I'm gonna prep everything to hopefully get the engine seated in the bay today

The steering rack is really an easy change out, but it def. helps to have another set of hands though!


Well I got the GSR in last night Smile Accidentally broke the TPS though but that's an easy fix. Discovered I need a DA starter, so gotta get that.

New XTD Clutch and Pressure plate installed


She's IN!

So basically just waiting on some cash for more parts, hoping to sell the CRV shell to fund this. Ran into a couple problems:

1) I broke the throttle body trying to modify the throttle cable bracket for the throttle cable because I can't get it to adjust right Sad But I've read I can use an LS Throttle body that my buddy has (hope it works!)

2) I have the OBD2 B20 distributor rigged on the GSR right now with a cut "ear" and I have the OBD2 GSR distibutor with no plugs. GSR is 9 wire and B20 is 8 wire...I need to figure out what I have to do to make the GSR work and swap to OBD1! (any tips are appreciated )

So At this point I'm going to order suspension components like upper control arms, tie rods and ball joints to get it safe for when it's running and so I can get the axles in.

So i ordered upper control arms w/ ball joints, inner and outer tie rods w/ boots, and lower ball joints. I installed the upper control arms but haven't has the time for the rest.

Basically I need some basic parts to get her running. I need to decide whether I want to swap the guts from the B20 distributor and put it in the GSR dizzy and get an obd2-obd1 jumper harness. Or just buy an OBD1 distributor and make it easier but will def. cost more.

I have a couple questions if anyone can answer them:
1) - I have an OBD2 alternator, I've heard I can swap the plug to OBD1, how hard is it and would it be better to just get an OBD1 alternator?

2) - Can I use the GSRs OBD2 injectors?

No that dark of tint will get me pulled over quick I will be removing it before it goes on the road, I'm not a fan of tint anyways

quick update: installed the inner and outer tie rods today and "eyeball aligned it" lol for now. Picked up a Da integra starter for it.
Got a whole OBD1 harness for wiring, using OBD2 alternator and injectors so I bought Rywire OBD1-OBD2 jumper harnesses. Also instead of swapping guts from one distributor to another I just bought an OBD1 B series vtec dizzy to make wiring easier.

Hoping to have all parts besides throttle body by the end of the week

My friends used the inclinometer app on iphone to dial in their toe, didn't do a bad job of it for driving to the wheel alignment place.

Getting very close to being done! I can't wait to drive this thing!

Got the radiator in and ran the coolant hoses


My wagon serves as my traveling toolbox lol


Gotta button up a few things still though. I need to attach the shift linkage but I didn't save the bitch pin or c-clip from the D15 so I ordered ones off ebay. still working on figuring out the vacuum lines and evap, I'm not sure where to run all of them ???

The biggest pain in the ass is going to be wiring   Sad  I have the OBD0 harness and an OBD1 harness but merging them is a mystery to me.

That's where I'm at now

Painted the valve cover and added a nice custom touch to the spark plug cover.




Also got the shift linkage connected!

So I've got everything wired up Smile only thing I need to do know is find a complete header and figure out how i'll match it to the stock exhaust  Question also I can't seem to figure out which heater hose to use from the rear of the block to the firewall, the one I have on there is pinching. I also have to change out the lower ball joints, and then I should be able to fill the engine with fluids and try it out!

Hey guys! It's been a little while since I got to work on the sedan since we bought a fixer up trailer and that's where my time and money has been going to.
But I did get around to getting fluids for the gsr, when I went to put the oil in the trans that's when I realized I didn't have a drain plug Sad $22 of new oil on the ground! fml! But I found a drain plug from a buddy and I'll fill it up later.
Only thing I'm still stumped on is the rear heater hose. Other than that I need a b series VSS and gotta do the ball joint. that's it for now, can't wait to drive this bitch![/quote]

I tried to crank her over last night and today but it wouldn't start. Me and my buddy narrowed it down to a fuel issue, we realized it was getting fuel from the pump to the filter through the fuel rail and back to the tank but no fuel to the cylinders. We decided there has to be an issue with the way I wired the injectors so I'll be wiring them directly to the ecu tomorrow and trying it again.......fingers crossed!

Hey guys! So I've been working on this swap way too long! I'm having the infamous code 9 problem Sad I have a new OBD1 distributor and everything wired correctly as per every write-up ever lol it'll start and idle but throw code 9 and once I open the throttle it dies. I tried the OBD2 distributor for the gsr with a jumper harness to OBD1 but I still get the same code. Anyone wanna throw some ideas out there?

Finally figured out the code 9 problem, the cams jump timing because of a loose timing belt. Once I get the belt and set the timing straight i gotta fix the high idle issue. ready for this thing to just be driving  Evil or Very Mad

How high is your idle? Set your ignition timing before diving into anything else.

Idle is at 2k. Once I change the timing belt and get that timing set ill do the ignition timing
